• Multi-Monitor setup: Can I switch from game screen to screen two w/o minimizing?

This is my setup: I play games on the 55' screen and my laptop screen is an extension of my main desktop. I want to be able to multi-task on my secondary monitor but when I move my cursor while in game to the other monitor area, it stays on the big screen. Is there some keyboard shortcut I can use to switch monitors? It would be nice to know. My laptop has a Mobility Radeon HD 5870 with Catalyst Control center version 11. Thanks for reading and I hope someone can help me where google never could.
No, you can't. Games lock your cursor in at full screen. Only way around is to play games windowed.
with Source games, run it with launch options: -windowed -noborder hitting the winkey or alt-tabbing won't minimize or mess anything up.

Pressing Alt+Enter can get you into windowed mode in a variety of games.
You guys rock! Thank you!
hitting the winkey
ooh that's dirty
It is technically possible to maintain directx exclusive fullscreen while using another monitor (just look at PotPlayer/MPC-HC + madVR renderer), just very few games do it. In fact the only game I can think of that does is Civilization 5 in DX10 mode. It's basically the same as noborder, except it's real fullscreen and accessing the taskbar (if it's on the same monitor as the game) is awkward.
Doom 3 seems to bahave fine when you ALT + F4 out of it (it does not pause or take a moment or two)
