Hmm...
Do we want a "new" PS3 design with whatever new or a PS4 with new hardware and some negative shit?
I'm looking to buy one again, hopefully this will be at least $50 cheaper.
Depends. Will it have backwards compatibility with PS2/PS1 games?
The next version is going to be as flat as a piece of paper.

But will it blend? That is the question.
I thought the title meant they were working on a new Play Station console.
Was sorely disappointed.

Why would you buy it again?

Maybe he sold his previous PS3 or it broke? Use common sense, man.

So do you just lay the game on top :v:

Of course not, you put it in the side, he said as flat, not as thin.
I'd consider getting it if it had hardware based backwards compatability for the PS2/1. I managed to get one of those quite recently on ebay for £70. Not looking forward to the day it finally kicks the bucket.
bring back the SD card multi reader, 4 USB ports, and PS2 hardware based emulation of the original 60GB and I'd buy it
Why the fuck they took away backwards compatibility I don't know.

When they took it out of the 1st generation, it was to save money, since the 1st gen PS3 had the Emotion Engine hardware built in.
Why they removed it from the other PS3s (which was all software based), is probably to get people to buy these HD packs of old PS2 games (Jak and Daxter, Sly, Ratchet and Clank, etc.).
Backwards compatibility is going the way of the dodo; ever since publishers discovered they can release "HD" versions of their old games for money, there's been an effort to get rid of backwards compatibility.
Nintendo is the only hardware manufacturer that's still offering backwards compatibility.

I think all xbox 360s support a lot of original xbox games. Not all games, but a big number of the popular ones.
There's not much left to strip Sony... Half of the USBs taken, Card Reader taken, Backwards compatibility taken, Other OS taken
what's going with this revision? the Optical Disk drive? Download and Cloud Gaming only??
... omg you heard it here first!

Knowing Sony, it'd just magically dissolve into the console.

Sold it, I didn't think I would have to go into detail about why I wanted to buy one.
what's the point of doing that?
Squeeze that last few drops of trite before moving on.
call me when it can play PS2 games again
You can't make money by letting users play their OLD games.

I'm talking about Sony mostly. They took away backwards compatibility, and with a few HD releases later they never looked back.
The 360 supports quite a few popular games (and I've never understood why full backwards compatibility wasn't available), but I doubt they are going to offer so much support on the next generation.
As it stands, Nintendo is the only one confirming full backwards compatibility for their newest console. Rumors already say Sony's not going to bother.
why have backward compatibility when you can just release a "HD" version of a game on your network for people to buy?
