I got a Turtle Beach DX11 for Christmas this year. However, I've been having some difficulty getting the darn thing to work.
The instruction manual says that I need a special adapter if I'm using HDMI. Is there really no other way to plug it in? I've plugged the Digital In and Analog In directly to the TV, and I can hear through the headphones, but it's slightly static-y and the surround sound box doesn't have the Dolby Digital highlighted. I also have to turn the volume on my TV down or it plays through my TV.
Is there any way to save me a quick buck or two or do I need to buy that adapter?
I'm not sure about the X11's but when I had an X1 I had to buy that stupid adapter. If your Turtle Beach ends up breaking I recommend buying a SkullCandy headset from Target for $40. I bought it about a year ago and I have not had ANY problems with it at all.

I suppose I'll just shell out the extra money then and buy it. Is it true that they cost around 10 bucks? Because I've seen some at around 40$ on the internet.

Skull candy have bad audio quality. All they are meant to be is fashion accessories.
