Oh.
Well no Watch Dogs for me then.
(Just for the record, I'm lacking in the CPU and GPU department. I've been x64 since 2008.)
Lets be honest.
If you have any of the other specs needed to run this game, you're extremely unlikely to be running a 32 bit OS.
Why would anyone still use a 32-bit OS is beyond me.
I think it's about time that 32Bit was on it's way out. 64 bit has been around for a really long time now, and things should be getting made for the OS by now.
But I will probably have to upgrade my CPU... I'm waiting for the Kaveri to come out (And reviews on performance) before I upgrade though. My GPU (Radeon HD 7870) should be fine for now.
Eight core? That mean physical cores? I got a GTX770, an i5 3570k and 8GB of RAM, so I can go up somewhat at least on the video settings.
Guess it might actually be worth overclocking my i5 now :O
Also I don't know why they even make 32 bit OS's anymore.
Is this the first commercial game to explicitly require a 64-bit OS to work?
Is this the first commercial game to explicitly require a 64-bit OS to work?
If it means that it requires a 64-bit OS or else it won't run at all, then yes it is (to my knowledge, anyway)
Eight core? That mean physical cores?
I don't think so. i7-3930K got 6 real cores + 6 virtual via hyper threading.

didn't just cause 2
didn't just cause 2
Just cause 2 was one of the first games that didn't allow Windows XP.
It didn't have anything to do with 32 or 64 bit though.
JC2 was the first DX10-only game I think
welp totally called my rig fading into irrelevance on the dawn of next gen
Well fuck. Time to ugpgrade, then. Should I go with 64bit Win8 or stick with 7?
Agree for 7. Disagree for 8.

Alright then. I'm good I suppose.
about time.
32 bit games are only holding games back in my opinion, it's time for people to move to 64 bit. unless your system is from 2006 you can probably run 64 bit.

Weee, looks like i will be able to play this atleast on the minimum.
I'm so glad I updated my computer just a bit ago for Arma 3.
i7 4770K, GTX 770, 16 GB ram. YAY
It's coming out for 360 and PS3, so why does it need 64-bit addressing or 4gb+ of RAM? The 360 has 512 MB of RAM. It's a huge disparity. I hate how the solution as far as porting games to PC goes is just raw power and brute force rather than something a little more elegant.
Why would anyone still use a 32-bit OS is beyond me.
Anyone that uses 16bit programs? not that I actually know anyone who fits that niche.
Anyone that uses 16bit programs? not that I actually know anyone who fits that niche.
it's 2013. odds are there's a 32/64 bit program that does the same thing as any 16 bit ones, if not then just use a virtual machine. takes like 5 minutes to set one up.
There must be some mad optimization for this game on 360/PS3/Wii U if it recommends an 8 core CPU with 8gb of ram for PC.

I think the bf4 beta is 64bit only for now.
I'm kind of surprised by the specs. Especially coming from Ubisoft I have my worries but hopefully the game will justify the requirements.
JC2 was the first DX10-only game I think
I think Shattered horizon was DX10-only and that came out about a half-year before JC2.
Also, I hit the ultra specs. Neat.
That's... higher than expected. Might not be able to run ultra, but "high" should still be in it.
Which is totally fine with me. AAA games these days have such high general graphical fidelity I barely notice quality setting differences anyway.
Someone's probably gonna hack/patch it to work on 32-bit systems, but lets be honest, the game neesd 8GB of RAM, Windows 32-bit supports up to only 4GB, why bother

Funnily enough my system from the end of 2005 was 64 bit compatible. I remember playing Unreal Tournament 2004 64 bit edition and HL2 64 bit on it :P on Windows XP Pro x64 Edition (which was great).
I find it amusing that a combination of multiple cores becoming mainstream and the stretching out of the current console generation has effectively postponed 64 bit executable games becoming the norm for nearly 8 or 9 years

Or it could, despite it being the lead platform, be badly coded for PC
I don't see a problem with this? It's 2013, most PC's already have 64 bit right?
