My situation is this:
• I have $500 to buy a computer
• I would like a decent computer for gaming, but mostly just for space
I am searching around and all the computers are either
A) 1 TB of storage, ~3.0 ghz
or
B) 500 GB of storage, ~4.0 ghz
Can somebody please explain why they do this?
(I have tried building my own PC and it went horribly wrong, the computer I am currently using.)
But I would like to know, which would be better.
My computer right now has:
465 GB of storage
2.7 ghz for processor speed
Which is better, A or B? (Overall, not just gaming.)
EDIT: I know the title is wrong, I can't really change it right now.
How did building it go horribly wrong? If someone here picks all the parts, would you be able to assemble them?
How many cores does your Processor have?
Also storage will not affect your ability to play games.
Clock speed isn't everything.
Just saying 3Ghz isn't helpful, you need to post the complete specs (GPU, CPU, RAM, Mobo, PSU etc) before we can help you make a decision.

Yup, you have to look at architecture and the numbers of cores.
I could have a single core Celeron running at 10 Ghz and it would still be worse than the cheapest Sandy Bridge CPU.
Also, I guess you're looking at pre-builts right now. Building it yourself could save you quite a lot of money.
