So I was studying native american culture for class today and was learning about the herbs that they smoked and ran across the "Calumet"

Bowl looks tiny but fucking badass none the less. These pipes are legitimate indian made pipes with hundreds of years of expertise put behind them if you buy a real one.
These pipes come in all forms shapes in sizes:
Tomahawk pipe:

Indian face pipes:

And many many more lovely smoking devices that have history and usefulness behind them. Currently I am going to buy a plain tomahawk pipe in the near future and customize it myself with stuff:

So fp I hope there are some creative souls out there who would be interested in making their own or dropping some serious cash on a custom one.
Here are the websites to buy from I used for the pics if you were interested but some googling could probably find more sources:

Haha I made one of these in pottery class, and even measured and made room for a screen, which I inserted later after firing it in my fire pit at home as a makeshift kiln. They smoke surprisingly well.
I got an A FYI :v:
I thought they were really harsh to smoke from? Also they are traditionally used with tobacco. Cannabis didn't exist in America until western settlers brought hemp to make sails and rope.
That buffalo pipe is awesome. Too bad a lot of native-americans seem to be a bit... ahem... greedy.
No offense, but a lot of them really try to rip you off, or atleast that's from my own experience when I was in the states in 2009. Went to Arizona, Nevada and California. Beautiful country, wish to go back again.
yeah some native americans are greedy, their reparations culture is getting out of hand.
sure whitey took their land but you cant really keep on asking for money from current generation. especially when some native americans have ditched their native cultures.
Maybe for the ones that ditched their cultures, but I would be pretty pissed if someone took my entire fucking Continent.
what do native americans smoke in the peace pipes?
i remember in Shanghai Noon Jackie Chan got pretty fucked up on some of their stuff

Peyote, wild tobacco, bark, marijuana, and other organic plant material to go on spirit trips only. They didn't use it recreational wise.

I have much respect for the cultural first nations

It's a very big continent and many natives didn't want to share their land. History isn't that bleak you know, it wasn't like: 'Oh, white people baaaaaad, mean and natives all good, peaceful and friendly'. Both sides made their mistakes and both sides were just as evil or good. We're all humans.
Plus isn't that how nations are formed? Wars and taking over land? Also, saying: 'I was here first so I have the right to claim this piece of rock!' is ofcourse plain bollocks.

Yeah you have a definite point but I just think they deserve a hell of a lot more than what they have. Although some natives took advantage of the system so they don't get that much respect nowadays.
My best friend has a tomahawk pipe
The local marketplace has a vendor that sells these types of things, hand made and everything. Cheaper than this website, but still expensive nonetheless. Definately will be dropping some hard cash for one of these next check i get.

indians smoked around the campfire all the time just to chill out.

i know i was there once
and the white man were definitely dicks to the natives.
we signed so many agreements with them saying they get to keep a large portion of land and no white man can settle on it and broke every single one of them.

Wow, please learn American history.
Its unhealthy to be that stupid.

All I was saying was that history wasn't that bleak. That there are no real 'good' or 'bad' guys like in the movies. 'learn American history', sorry, but maybe you first need to learn how to read and secondly learn how to interact with other people. If you can point out any fallacies then do so instead of dicking around it and come up with insults. Calling me stupid is fine, but a comment like that doesn't make you come off as very intelligent either.
Your title fits.

Haha, okay.
Now shut up and read.
I was well aware of these things, again you completely missed my point.
There are always these protests on Columbus day(we recieve CNN you know?) where they would also bring up the issues described in the last two articles(plus we learn a lot more of American history than you might think over here).
All I said was, again, that there are no real good or bad guys. Trying to make a monster out of someone is a stupid thing for that person is nothing but merely a human. Plus if you look at how nations are formed you can always say that one party was a dick for stealing that other person's land(because slavery for example is nothing new).
History is not black and white.

You claim Native Americans had an equal ground of negative actions? How?
Also, saying: 'I was here first so I have the right to claim this piece of rock!' is ofcourse plain bollocks.
With logic like that, I should legally be able to kick your fucking door down and call it home.
Didn't say they made an equal ground of negative actions, it's impossible because they weren't technologically as advanced so you can't even really compare the two. Take all things in notice, you can't come up with such simple conclusions. Slavery already existed among the natives and was also practiced before the first Europeans set foot on America. In some tribes bastard childs would become slave for life. They too would torture men, woman and children. Just to give a few examples. Between both parties there were enough folks who could live in peace together. Humans in general are easily corrupted, it doesn't matter what background you're from.
'With logic like that, I should legally be able to kick your fucking door down and call it home.'
What I tried to say was we need to learn to share and, of course, it lies in our human nature to be somewhat greedy out of self preservation.
I wasn't talking about invading anyones house, try to see the bigger picture here.

I know what your trying to say, but I was never comparing anything outside of the fact that Native Americans had been taken advantage of and completely shitted over, and I understand why they still feel pissed off even in this day and age.
I agree 100% that no ethnicity is free of guilt. Every blood line has its bitter blood somewhere, as is to survive as you mentioned.
Point is, an entire race of people were forced off of their land for miles and miles on end. Its one of those things that sort of just carries a stigma for a really long time because of how much pain it created. If humans continue to thrive, it'll eventually be forgiven entirely, but as long as history survives, it won't be forgotten.
