I was cleaning the attic 'store' room yesterday and came across two Philips FB260's, I have no idea if they're good however and have no idea how to
hook them to my computer, they have just two wires that are held into the speaker via toggle-able clamps, here's a couple of pictures I took:
Cobwebs all over the speaker.

Any ideas? I suppose spdif or 3.5mm is the only way to hook it to my computer (Xonar DG sound card) but I have no idea.
You need an amplifier for that.

A simple analog steareo amp is around 100$ new.
You hook up the amp to your soundcard and the speaker to your amp.
It is pointless without a second speaker though, unless you like mono sound.
Oh no I found two of them, sorry, didn't point that out.
I see, so the wires are not proprietary? Amps also have that clamp found on the speakers to keep the wire in there?
And as a final question, will these FB260's be better than my current Logitech X-530 5.1? If I were to use them I'd keep the sub/centre and rear speakers of my current, just replacing my L/R on my logitech, but would it be worth buying an amp etc?
you could connect them to your current amp, but just be sure to not clip it, (don't go all the way up with the volume control, just stop when you hear "scratching") the thing is that your current amp is probably too weak for these speakers and you will overload it, which will result in a clip taht could damage speakers
and all amps have those clips that hold the wire in place, so dont worry about that
check the ohm rating on the speakers if they have one.

Wel its gonna sound different. These speakers are quite old, and dont look like really high end ones. The only real way of knowing is by listening to them though.

He doesnt have an amp, just a logitech active sub with sattelite speaker outputs. That thing cant power a speaker this big.
It may not be worth it then, thanks though!
You should be able to plug it into any stereo base unit, give them a go if you have one sitting around.
You've never seen speaker wire before?
Strangely, no.
