wow this is old dont bump this, thx
I'm not positive on this, but I believe they still have the BOGO free deal with the lg ally
It appears to be, plus it's very cheap. The keyboard looks really stupid with the space bar being in the middle, though. TBH I think I'd rather use the touch screen's. [editline]02:22AM[/editline] Didn't even think of going to Verizon's site and looking at all the Android phones. It seems like the Droid / Incredible are the only two worth getting, the LG Ally looks so perfect, the keyboard is amazing (despite my earlier claims), but it is running an ARMv6 processor which cannot do the 3D stuff for certain apps, which is a HUGE disappointment, to me. I hate the Droid, too, its keyboard is so bad that I would rather it not be there. Ugh. It's nice that there will be a few new ones out soon, according to some sites, because these ones are pretty horrible.
What are you talking about? The Droids keyboard is amazing. I'd rather have it than be forced to use a touch screen for a keyboard any old day. Theres a new Droid (X) coming out in about a month or so I believe, though.
The Droid 2 is also coming out in August, but it looks almost exactly the same as the original Droid
Droid 2 has an improved keyboard, better processor. Droid X has a bigass screen and a better camera. I just hope the Droid X will come to the UK.

No numbers, it's a bubble KB and not actual buttons, and the punctuation is all weird.

That's why I got it instead of the Incredible. That, and the battery life is supposedly better. Sure, I don't like it's dpad much, but I usually just set applications (games) to use WASD instead.

yeah that was also a pretty sizable gripe with a lot of people when the phone came out. kind of odd that you (well he) aren't aware of it.
Oh. My bad. All the phones I have had use those type of keys, so it doesn't really bother me.
it comes down to personal preference, really. i'd still rather a keyboard than no keyboard at all, but only if it's on one of the current latest and greatest phones. which the Droid and the oncoming Droid 2 are not and will not be. they're currently mid-rangeish, before root and overclocking, which you can overclock the EVO, Incredible, and Droid X, I'm sure. and that mid-rangeish category will be considered lower end in a matter of 4 months. so, if i had to get a phone right now, i wouldn't get a Droid or a Droid 2 just for their keyboards. I might get the Samsung Epic, as it's going to be one of the top of the line with the Droid X, Evo, and Incredible, as well as having a keyboard which the others do not (reportedly great keyboard as well). though truthfully i've decided to wait for Android 3.0 phones to debut this holiday season
I can't tell the difference between the Droid, Droid 2, and Droid X. They look the same to me
you're blind first, the original Droid [img]http://pocketnow.com/html/portal/news/0000008590/NewsImage/2009_10_28_droid_by_motorola_r3qtr_open_vzw_clock624x530.jpg[/img] the Droid X has physical face buttons(the other 2 have touch sensors/soft buttons), larger screen/size, and doesn't have a keyboard [img]http://assets.gearlive.com/blogimages/gallery/droid-x-unboxing/motorola-droid-x-018_medium.jpg[/img] The Droid 2 has a more streamlined screen slide panel thing(on the right) than the first Droid, and a different keyboard. [QUOTE=PelPix123;23260202]I'm going to get a samsung galaxy S OEM and load it with stock android to get rid of all of samsung's shitty bloatware.[/QUOTE] Why not just buy it from one of the carriers that'll carry it?
Couldn't take the silent call bug on 2.1 OTA on my eris any longer, and went to the verizon store today. They have posters in the store for BOGO with the droid still
Whats the problem with buying on-contract then? You're paying less for the device, and paying monthly. Off-contract is paying 2x as much for the device and still paying monthly, I don't get it.
[QUOTE=PelPix123;23260202]I'm going to get a samsung galaxy S OEM and load it with stock android to get rid of all of samsung's shitty bloatware.[/QUOTE] uh that's going to border on impossible, the phones that the carriers are carrying are all entirely different because there is no specific GALAXY S LOL phone, it's a series. besides, if you were to root and load an unlocked, why can't you just do it with a carrier phone?
I'll probably end up getting a Droid. My brother is getting the Droid X (He has a job), and my dad will just get a Droid, and I'll get the free one. Battery life isn't too important for me, since I'm by a power source 80% of the time, so I'll probably overclock it a bit.
I'm probably going to buy a Droid X
seriously do not overall, it's no different from an EVO, no different from an Incredible, and no different from an HD2 running android, it's just another android phone with similar performance and capabilities to the rest of them. if you wanted one you should've gotten one a month or two ago at the latest. in not even 5 months, these will border on obsolete/run of the mill as far as android phones are concerned. so, unless you ABSOLUTELY MUST BUY A PHONE RIGHT NOW, don't get anything. you'll be kicking yourself in the face very shortly. [editline]10:10AM[/editline] it's pretty much unofficially official that Android 3.0/Gingerbread is already out to all of the big android manufacturers (HTC, Motorola, and Samsung), and will be available to the public about October 15th/16th, so theoretically you can root it onto your phone about then, but you won't be able to do EVERYTHING with it to the fullest extent. Estimated around the holiday season or just after, dual-core, 1280x760 (dpi similar to the iPhone 4) android phones should be out, with a chance of TEGRA and/or TEGRA 2. [editline]10:11AM[/editline] if you just want an android phone, go for it, they're reportedly great, but if you want to have the top of the line for longer than 4 months, don't.
[QUOTE=PelPix123;23278731]Google confirmed that Gingerbread is 2.3, not 3, and that the specs about it requiring a 1GHZ processor were false. So are all the other rumors about it. It is not even close to being done at this time.[/QUOTE] link? because all i remember ever seeing was google saying that 3.0 didn't require those specs to run. i don't recall them denying the hardware, denying the screen, or denying 3.0's release. maybe i just read it wrong. [editline]11:07AM[/editline] yeah still can't find anything saying gingerbread is 2.3, not 3.0, or that it's not releasing in the fall/winter [editline]11:08AM[/editline] also, Droid X isn't HTC. Incredible is, but that's not a MotoDroid.
Motorola really needs to fix their shit, Motoblur sucks ass. Even Ninjablur that's on the Droid X is quite frankly ugly as shit.
Droid X doesn't actually run any blur at all, so Verizon and Motorola claim. and it doesn't. they're just optional widgets, which are nice i guess, but the official widgets are nicer. [editline]11:17AM[/editline] the funny thing is everyone says Sense is better, even though it actually is running something, and is even more space consuming and IN YOUR FACE ARGUGH [editline]11:17AM[/editline] (which is a bad thing about blur)
well in the US, the best performance for price is actually the Nexus One on a T-Mobile contract, problem is T-Mobile is shit in my city. [editline]12:01PM[/editline] honestly the cheapest way to get a cell phone is either directly from the carrier or through a retailer on a contract with a carrier. for example, for the EVO 4G, directly from Sprint it's $299.99 before a mail in rebate, bringing it down to $199.99, but you still pay the tax (where i am, an additional $8.75 which isn't much but it's more) for the other $100. however, if you were to get it from Best Buy, it's $199.99, no rebate, so you don't pay the extra 9 bucks. you also get a free bluetooth headset, i don't know if it's a good headset or not, but it's better than no headset (actually with the EVO probably not a whole lot better) [editline]12:02PM[/editline] so just look around at whatever electronics shops are in your area if they sell through carriers, then look at carriers and their prices.

Eh I'd still call it blur, it's still ugly lol
jesus christ...
