So I've been running xp no problems. But recently I upgraded a bunch of stuff in my pc, and was wondering if 7 would enhance any of it. AMD Athlon II x 4 630 2.8 (oc'd 3.2) Biostar TA790gxe mobo 3gb OCZ ram XFX HD 6870 (1gb) Intel X25-M SSD (80gb) Should I stick with xp?
If you want to be 10~ years behind ya. I don't see why you wouldn't want to get 7 over XP at this point
Switching from XP to 7 will most likely not affect your gaming performance, unless your Windows XP installation is full of shit that slows it down.
Well games aren't really optimized for either or, but most games nowadays use DirectX 10, so you might as well upgrade.
Battlefield 3 isn't going to work on XP right? well if you care for it and future games it would be safe to go for 7.
DirectX 11 is almost reason enough, seeing as XP is 10 years old.
I despise Windows XP in any way possible. I'd much rather use Windows 7 or Windows 98. Go for 7.
You have an SSD, get Windows 7, SSDs will degrade FAST when using an Windows operating system pre Vista, also get Windows 7, XP is over 10 years old and alot of games are releasing with DirectX 11 which XP doesn't support.
Dual Boot XP and 7. Some games run a lot better on XP for some reason for me, and I'm guessing other people aswell.

I would say, like everyone else, it is time to upgrade to 7 for more games.
i'll be the odd man and say stick with WinXP until you get your hands on 6+gigs of ram. XP can only support a max of 4gigs of RAM i believe, so if RAM is your issue then go for 7. But if you think you're sometimes going to be playing old games like Fallout 2 you're going to run into compatibility issues with 7. 'sides, XP seems to still be able to handle plenty of new games. I've got a WinXP machine and can run New Vegas and GTA4 flawlessly. "The choice is yours" - Socucius Ergalla

I believe W7 x64 has difficulty with 16 bit games. So If you only play very old games. You might not want to upgrade :v:

This goes beyond the scope of just gaming as well. (And no it isn't the renderer settings, even both running DX9 mode)
I can't believe people still ask these questions.

Yeah, for very old games, use virtualbox or some shit. I haven't had any compability issues with Windows 7, yet. And your CPU is 64-bit, too, so it'll get more shit done on 64-bit Windows: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1665&page=1 Very old comparison, but what ye' going to do 'bout it.
I can't believe people still ask these questions.
Avatar fits the situation perfectly.
I've been using Windows 7 x64 for over a year. Runs significantly faster than Windows XP. Also I have no issues with game compatibilities. By the way, Windows 7 has XP Mode anyway. This question is stupid.
XP is like a rusty car, it may drive but you don't want to sit inside of it when it crashes.

I think it performs a lot better than XP and is a lot more stable.
Use Win7. Most of the newest games abandon the XP, so...
You could add an extra hard drive or partition your current one so you can have a computer with two operating systems. You get the best of both worlds.
If i were you, I'd stick to win7 :v:
7
I can still play StarCraft 1 in Win7, I don't know what you guys are talking about having problems. I mean, I have to close explorer.exe first, to get the colors to not be crappy, but it runs.
