Man ODs in fast food bathroom, body not found for three days
The death of a man whose body lay undiscovered in the toilet of a fast food restaurant for three days is to be investigated by the West Australian coroner.
Police were called to Hungry Jack's on Wanneroo Road in the Perth suburb of Westminster on July 18 after the body was found.
It is believed the man died after overdosing.
A report is being prepared for the coroner but the death is not being treated as suspicious.
It is understood the toilet cubicle had a floor to ceiling door with a single vent.
The City of Stirling said health and compliance officers were investigating, in terms of the health and safety at the site.
The store was open for business this afternoon.
The local store manager declined to comment when contacted by the ABC.
I can understand why it might not have been found in a cubical, not to mention that people generally ignore funny smells in public bathrooms
Do staff not check the toilets every night before shutting? I though that was basic process everywhere with a public toilet?

No one went in to clean the bathrooms at least two days in a row, that's kinda gross.
More like Junkie Jacks am I right guys.

Toilets are cleaned out at least once day, but more often twice at all the local fast food joints around me.
That place is going to be royally fucked over this.
If I was cleaning a bathroom and I noticed one of the stalls had two feet poking out from under it, I probably wouldn't want to fuck with that :v:

A lot of fast food joints are open 24/7. I imagine cleaning staff are used to coming in at 3am and finding someone using a cubical.

Cleaning is usually done towards the end of the shift when no one's around. Even then it should be obvious its the same guy if they were actually cleaning it daily.

True, but cleaning is often done on rotation. So Employee A goes in late at night to clean, sees someone in a stall, doesn't disturb the occupant, and just cleans everything else. Doesn't think much of it. Employee B goes in the next night, and the exact same thing happens.
I dunno, typically a janitor is required to ask if anyone is in the bathroom - if they knock, call out to check, and no one replies, they're going to walk in. When they find a locked stall, and an unresponsive person inside, do you really think they're going to be like, "Oh, I'll just go ahead and mop around the stall and clean the urinals and wipe down the mirrors and be on my way!". Naw man, this is gross negligence and the people working there are likely to lose their jobs and face a lot of flak from Australia's equivalent of the FDA.

Considering that most of these people are minimum wage employees, they really don't care about bothering some guy in a stall. They tend to just want to get in and out since it's close to the end of the night, and they don't want to be there any later than they need to be.

It says in the article that the doors (And assuming the walls) were floor to ceiling.
Could have been that they either just thought someone was in there, or that the door had been locked in a previous shift because they needed to call someone out to fix something, then everyone in subsequent shifts might just think the same thing unless someone more senior who would know about that kind of thing checked it.
Sounds like it would be easier to just put it down to a chain of events and assumptions that coincidentally meant the stall was never opened and nobody questioned why rather than complete incompetence/bad cleaning.

But these checks are basic. When I worked at Walgreens, I didn't really care that I was on minimum wage. All I have to do is say loudly "anyone in there?!" to avoid an awkward situation. I think this really should have been easy to discover if anyone was doing their job the slightest bit.
yeah im at the gold coast right now, the cavil avenue hungry jacks toilets smelt like fucking shit i was insanely close to vomiting my onion rings on their dirty tiled floor in the males bathrooms, HJs are the fucking worst at toilets

I get what you're saying, cause I'm the same way, no matter how much I am getting paid, I'm gonna do the proper steps for each job, but not everyone is like that bro.
You gotta remember we live in a world where 2nd place is just as good as 1st, there's no losers only winners, and we love everything to be fast and quick. There's alot of lazy people who just wouldn't care.
I use to deal with that type of shit all the time as a dishwasher. I'd get bitched at if I didn't wash every single dish by the end of my shift (during lunch hours), but when the person who usually complained had a shift before me, and he had to go to his other job, he'd leave the dishpit a total wreck, using the 2nd job as an excuse to leave me with the shit. Just lazy people man.

Yes? Because not everyone wants to talk while they're taking a shit? So it really shouldn't be expected of you to reply?
It's plenty reasonable that they saw feet under the stall and were like "ok I guess I'll just ignore that stall and someone else'll deal with it later" because it's not out of place for someone to be quiet while taking a shit and some people don't want to have those "uh hey dude are you okay in there because if you're just taking a shit I'll leave but I mean I can call an ambulance if you're dead" situations

And if you asked, I wouldn't say shit in reply unless the stall doors were broken because I don't want to talk to you in a restroom and it's not like it'd really matter as long as I finished up and started washing my hands at a relatively quick pace.
Article says the stalls are from floor to ceiling, so unless they opened the stall and saw the dude sitting in there they wouldn't have known. That's probably why it took them three days to even notice.
Ah, so then yeah, the only cue they really had to go on was whether or not the door was locked, which it was.
Cleaning is usually done towards the end of the shift when no one's around. Even then it should be obvious its the same guy if they were actually cleaning it daily.
some places are 24/7
I guess we just have different shit set in place at my store. We would not leave until it was guaranteed all stalls were unlocked and ensured nobody was in there.

You and I are different though for example, because while we may I know my coworkers would not.
Difference between having a work ethic + caring/not having one.
Misread the title, thought the man OD'd on fast food

dont sniff deep fires shit can fuck you up man,
I was at this hungry jacks on the 17th, I can see how they missed it though as the toilets have floor to roof doors and it's 24 hours on weekends.
Fuck that though, creepy as shit and gross that there was a dead body in the same place I was getting dinner.
