I currently have a Gigabyte GTX 260, and one of my dads friends is getting a new 3D TV and is upgrading his graphics card, he's offered my his old Radeon HD 5970 for £80, should I take it? Its been a while since I had a Radeon card, are there any driver or compatability problems with Catalyst?
Hell yes, that's an utter steal.
Assuming you have the power supply to support it.
900w
You're good then, that's a hefty power supply.
Well, I originaly got my GTX 260 last christmas, I had a 400w power supply. Basicly the card drew too much power through the PCIe slot and burned out my motherboard and PSU, good thing everything was under warenty, one 900w PSU later everything was fine.
"upgrading" from a 5970? the only place to go from there is a second 5970, at least at the moment
probably because in order to use 3D you need an nvidia card
