Supporters of the #niunamenos anti-gender violence campaign filled the plazas and streets surrounding the Congress building in the City of Buenos Aires, for a widely-attended march organised today to draw awareness for the issue.
As well as the capital, over 70 cities across Argentina have organised events for the campaign. The City march, which has gained massive publicity and support from social media, political, artistic and cultural figures, began from Congress.
The hashtag #niunamenos translates to not a women less in English, and refers to violent attacks and murders targeting females in the country. According to the latest available statistics, 1808 women were killed in the last seven years - an average of one every 31 hours.
It's happening right now - you can check a live streaming of the event here.
I'm surprised the government isn't trying to distract from the issue by bringing up the Falklands again.

Yo, don't get me wrong, I don't like it when people derail talks about women's issues with "yeah well men have it bad too in some areas so shut it", but this isn't really the time to complain about it, especially when nobody's done it yet.

Anti-gender violence covers both genders does it not?
I tried to make my post as dripping with sarcasm and irony as possible, I guess I failed.
Anti-gender? Do they want everyone to become hermaphrodites?
I always thought this was weird, I read a study not too long ago that said that men were the victims in 81% of all homicides in Argentina. Whether that's related to gender violence or not, there should be some priority in dropping murder rates across the board rather than focusing on one gender at a time.
That was a joke.
Yo of course it was a joke. What about my post suggests that it isn't?
