A cargo plane has crashed after take-off near a motorway in Dubai, killing two crew members aboard, officials say. The plane, operated by the delivery company United Postal Service (UPS), crashed near the Emirates Road. Some reports said a fire had broken out in the plane just after it took off from Dubai airport. The official news agency WAM said the plane had come down in an unpopulated area on Friday evening. The plane crashed near a busy road where motorists saw its last desperate moments. The Boeing 747 crashed into the ground inside the fence of a military air base, reports say. A single Boeing 747 can cost anywhere from $230 million to $308 million.
All those poor boxes...
This is the biggest tragedy this year.
Too bad it wasn't Fedex. Could have had a Cast Away reference!

Does Dubai always look like a skyscraper collapsed, or is that from the plane? Also, if you change U to B, and get rid of the S, we can blame this on BP!
Wow.. Think seeing a Boeing 747 just crashing a few 100ft away. Fucking scary.
Well, you know, life has it's UPS and downs

Real men land their aircraft in the Hudson River when it's on fire.
UPS you say?
Cast Away involved FedEx, not UPS.
I am honestly intrigued. Please describe the sounds you heard in this disastrous event.
Normally I'll hear airplanes pass over quite often, as I live near the airport. However, this time, I heard this weird, almost screeching noise that sounded like a really high pitch engine whine. I didn't hear an explosion, though.
Cast Away involved FedEx, not UPS.
This I know. I didn't go full retard. But UPS and FedEx are both major shipping companies so I was mentioning Cast Away to somehow hint that a similar story could take place with someone from UPS
One of the pilots was from Louisville. My parents knew him awhile ago.
