Deadpool isn't your typical superhero movie. The red spandex-clad hero played by Ryan Reynolds isn't just irreverant and self-aware — he's downright raunchy. That solidly earned the film an R rating (18+ without an adult), but that hasn't stopped the film from being a box office success. Over its first weekend in the US, Deadpool is now estimated to haul in over $135 million. That makes it the best opening weekend ever for an R-rated film — by far. That title was previously held by The Matrix Reloaded (2003), which earned $91.7 million. The top five opening weekends for R-rated films is rounded out by American Sniper (2015), The Hangover Part II (2011), and Fifty Shades of Grey (2015), which all earned between $85 to $90 million on their first weekends.

The R-rated Deadpool starring Ryan Reynolds as the tongue-in-cheek crime-fighter opened at number one in 60 of its 61 markets excluding Poland where a local title held sway. The superhero adaptation dominated the global box office on an estimated $260m debut. It scored the third biggest opening ever in the UK behind Stars Wars: Episode 3 and The Simpsons on $10.1m, while Russia produced the biggest opening weekend in history on $12.4m, and Australia delivered a record Fox, February and MA15+ launch on $10.1m. France delivered $8.7m, Taiwan $8.2m for record Fox and 15+ debuts, Mexico $7.8m for a record PG-13 opening, Germany $7m, and Brazil $5.9m for the biggest Fox and second biggest R-rated debut in history. Deadpool scored record Fox launches in Hong Kong on $3.8m, Malaysia $2.9m, Thailand on $2.3m, and Vietnam on $1.6m. The Philippines delivered Fox’s second biggest and the record R-rated debut on $2.8m, and India generated $2.6m. Imax delivered $8.9m internationally and has reached $28m worldwide. saw it yesterday. Gotta say it did beat my expectations, only one chimi-chonga joke. A shitload of making fun of themselves in the movie and it handles the origin story of deadpool in the course of the movie in a pretty cool way. Thank god it was rated R, it needed to be.
Maybe we will get more rated R movies now
The fact that I was in a fit of laughter bordering on an intense ab routine at the gym from the very start is probably why it has got the crowds. Whoever wrote the script is a comedic genius.
Wait, this is rated 18+? But in Australia it's rated 15+ [editline]15th February 2016[/editline] No wait I am an idiot, different ratings.
First time since the first Ironman and The Punisher, I liked a Marvel movie, good on them!
Deserves it. It had me laughing from start to finish. Perfect comedic timing throughout.
Ohmygod it was incredible. Far exceeded all of my expectations. Only thing I'm unhappy about is how many asshat parents brought their four through ten year olds to see this.

Like, unable to talk infant. Needless to say when the mutations occurred, that child was very unhappy.

Every time there was a pair of titties on the screen you could hear the small kids snickering. The only problem with the movie itself was that the story didn't seem grand enough, and the main villain is stupid.

[sp]I do like how they try to make deadpool into a hero for a second at the end with the villain but you just know what's gonna happen[/sp]

This was a great movie. I just loved the humor. I got exactly what I wanted out of this movie.
So to fans of the original comic and that hate the Randumb Deadpool. Which Deadpool would this fit into? The Actually good comics or the horrible randumb Comics?
This deadpool origin movie is gonna end up making way more cash than the fucking batman origin movie Batman Begins did lol. I didn't see that coming.

I'm happy Ryan Reynolds finally got his movie
I'm happy Ryan Reynolds finally got his movie
I'm happy he did it the way he wanted to and didn't let studio BS get in the way, hopefully this means more movies true to the material and less flaming garbage like Fantastic 4
So to fans of the original comic and that hate the Randumb Deadpool. Which Deadpool would this fit into? The Actually good comics or the horrible randumb Comics?
It was fine enough. It was a lot more comic than your more tragic-deadpool, but it tried to get those moments in as well. They felt a bit jarring alongside the gags and jokes, but were necessary to keep the movie going and provide a motivation.
R rated is 18+ right? It was 15 here in the UK, I got asked for ID, it was embarrassing.
So I take it that this is worth watching despite all the initial trepidations about it possibly being filled with stupid memes?
Damn, I want to go watch it even more now, but my friends are stumps about Marvel and general stuff of the sort.
Rated 18, yet they weren't able to show off some naked body parts.
Rated 18, yet they weren't able to show off some naked body parts.
German version censored? Cos I recall seeing full nudity at one scene.
Rated 18, yet they weren't able to show off some naked body parts.
There definitely was some nudity. It actually surprised me since my mind was only thinking "Marvel movie + a lot of language"
There definitely was some nudity. It actually surprised me since my mind was only thinking "Marvel movie + a lot of language"
The strip club scene was amusing, especially with the DJ.
Stan lees cameo was hilarious
Stan lees cameo was hilarious
Probably one of his best

[sp]The origins deadpool fuckup reference when wade was talking about his prized possession was great[/sp]
