• Petition Launched for PG-13 Deadpool

Basically a 8 yr old wants to go see it
The chorus calling for an R-rated "Deadpool" film has been ringing loud for years. Even the movie's star, Ryan Reynolds, made the hard-R rating a point of pride throughout the process of bringing the Merc with a Mouth to the big screen. On Wednesday, it was finally revealed that all those prayers had been answered and the MPAA had given the film its long-desired R rating. But in a twist that could only happen in the age of the Internet, there's now a petition to get 20th Century Fox to hastily put together a PG-13 cut of the film so young fans can see it too
http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/petition-launched-for-pg-13-deadpool-cut
Just go with someone over 18, atleast where I live, as long as you go with someone over 18 your free to watch R rated movies.
Yay!
Seems like a joke from advertising.
just make a crayon version
Why can't some people just appreciate what they get.
oh for fucks shake there is plenty of PG - 13 comic book movies
From the person who created the petition: I hope the Deadpool team will put out a response video to this. Her points are extremely flimsy, and I could see them poking fun at it.
Looking at the trailer the movie has 13 year old humour so might as well make it PG-13.
A romantic comedy that's rated R probably has sex scenes. Why would the parents want their kid to see a movie with sex?
I think they responded.

Change the rating of a film I don't know the content of.
No.
Why can't the younger audience just be patient and wait until the movie comes out on DVD to see it? That's what my dad always did for me and it was better than never NOT seeing the movie. Also as someone mentioned before if your kid is so desperate to see the movie just go with them.
Just go with someone over 18, atleast where I live, as long as you go with someone over 18 your free to watch R rated movies.
MPAA says you have to be >21, at least for all the theaters I've worked for (Regal and Alamo) The rule is: PG13 and below - Everyone can go in, no matter the age R - 17 and up, or under 17 if you have someone 21 or older with you NC-17 - 17 and up only. NOBODY ELSE (Alamo sometimes shows NC-17 movies like Cannibal Holocaust, Blue is the Warmest Color, etc.)
As if the MPAA's criteria are anything resembling transparent. They've PG stamped ultra violent movies yet R stamped movies with "suggestive" themes and language. If a studio wants a rating they just have to make small concessions here and there, then throw a boatload of cash their way Case and point, James Bond has never not gotten a pg-13 rating even today or during the brosman era or during the Dalton era when they grinded up people on screen and showed tons of drugs, but the martian had to skirt the rules to not get an R for language, they avoided it by a technicality on how the word fuck is used
Really, an 8 year old shouldn't be going to the theater by themselves anyway.
Oh yeah absolutely. I wouldn't leave a kid at the theater by themselves, but I've seen it happen too many times stupidly.
Something that worries me is the excessive use of the CG in the trailer. I can definitely tell when they're using CG and not Ryan Reynolds in a suit, and I really hope Deadpool isn't CG the entire film. The awkwardness of it reminded me of beowulf

waah mommy I can't see this movie please do something about it waah
I honestly think this is an attempt at viral marketing.
Fuck off kids, this is our movie, seriously getting pissed off, anything good we get has to be ruined by someone with a bitchy whiny stupid fucking reason.
Not like there'll be magical safeguards preventing him from watching it. It's entirely on his guardians if it the movie has a negative impact on him, however.
sorry kid i wanna see ryans balls
From the person who created the petition: I hope the Deadpool team will put out a response video to this. Her points are extremely flimsy, and I could see them poking fun at it.
Did she even make any points in this video? all I heard was "We should hastily cut a shitty PG-13 version of the movie because some 8 year old wants to see it," and then she listed off the 8 year olds reasons for watching the movie. To the lady, No, fox will not cut a PG-13 version of the movie for the extreme minority of kids who will see it, because it won't turn fox a profit and it will taint the movies reputation with a shitty PG-13 version.
There are so many great comments here - from other kids like Matthew who are eager to see the movie to adults taking a stand that "funny doesn't have to be inappropriate"!
Kids who are eager to see a movie that the MPAA has deemed inappropriate for them to see for another 10 years of growth and development, most likely based on the trailer alone. Yeah, those are the guys who should be deciding if they get to watch it or not. If their parents won't just make the decision to take them to see a movie that clearly isn't intended for them, then that's that. No need to start a petition asking the producers to hastily make another cut that would be safe for kids to watch.
Yeah, no. A PG-13 movie would be dumbing it down. Hell, I shouldn't even be dignifying this petition with an analysis of the effects the rating change would have. Don't try to broaden something like this. If an age demographic can't easily see it, tough shit. That's like saying "stop selling hard cider, and just sell apple juice instead :^)"
