Deathstroke seems a step above the Joker to me. Seems weird as a prequel he would be the villain batman started with.
As far as I have heard, Deathstroke is only one of 7 assassins. I doubt he'll be the focus.
Also, as far as I remember Mark Hamill said Arkham City would be his last time playing Joker, so I doubt he'll be in it, other than maybe a cameo or some sort of unvoiced role.
I know they have to cut Joker, I'm just talking on kinda a power level basis they're getting a more threatening villain than Joker to be in a prequel origin story. It's stepping up while stepping back.

Mark Hamill says he's retiring from Joker as much as Hideo Kojima says he's retiring from Metal Gear.

Didn't he say Batman: Arkham Asylum was gonna be his last role too haha
Deathstroke better be voiced by Ron Perlman

Fucking this.
If I remember correctly, most if not all batman origin stories do not include Joker at all, rather leaving him as a character for the sequel (The Nolan movies did this, and Year One did as well). I wish this wasn't the case, but hopefully this'll lead to other characters taking the limelight (First meeting with Catwoman would be pretty interesting).

Thats because [sp]Batman created the Joker.[/sp]
I'd bet on Bane having a big role.

Young Justice's Deathstroke was pretty good too, Fred Tatasciore. He worked better as old man Slade though than as the young Slade we're probably getting here.

Nah, Hamill went back on that statement pretty quickly after the announcement.

Mark Hamill not being the Joker would feel weird, like he's the definitive Joker voice and laugh, you just can't copy him.

I hope they don't make him look or sound dumb like with the other two games.

I personally like the Deathstroke in Arrow
I'm hoping since this is gonna be more of the crimefighting mob-breaker Batman we can see more of the mafia-type villains like Carmine Falcone or Roman Sionis. Black Mask in particular was referenced practically everywhere in Arkham City, it'd be a no-brainer to at least have his debut in Origins.

So he claims....
The Joker constantly changes how he came to be, even he doesn't know what really happened.

Sometimes he's the Red Hood and sometimes he's just a down-on-his luck employee, sometimes Batman knocks him in to a vat of chemicals and sometimes it mobsters. But that's the most common origin. There are numerous different ones overall.

Richard Epcar (Joker in MK vs. DCU and Injustce) isnt half bad himself.
Nowhere near Hamill, but if Hamill were to retire for good, i'd be fine with Epcar being Joker from now on.

But isn't that true to the comics?

He's a tactical genius and his first appearance had him planning an entire event which led to him crippling Batman.

Sure, but he was pretty lore-friendly in appearance in Arkham Asylum and City, a big burly luchadore with tubes connected to his neck. That's who Bane is, now granted he seemed rather dumb in the other games, and that's off, they got the looks and his voice right.

Not really, his appearance in the Arkham games was far more monstrous and over-the-top than his appearance in any of the comics.
There's a world of difference between this:

Venom doesn't even have any effect on his appearance in the comics, it just enhances his physical abilities to superhuman levels.

eh I'd rather have the guy who does Bender than Epcar
Epcar doesn't quite have it down

John DiMaggio? Sure, he could do it to.
I think Epcar is the closest, the closest ive heard anyway, to Hamill.

Personally I hated his version of it. It just sounded so wrong.
I would have absolutely no problem with DiMaggio, he was fucking great in Under The Red Hood.
yeah my problem with Epcar is it feels like he is trying to hard to be Hamil. You gotta be your own Joker unless you are one of those crazy Youtubers who can imitate Hamil's joker so precise you'd think they are actually Clayface,
I hope they don't make him look or sound dumb like with the other two games.
Now that he won't be on Titan anymore, there's no excuse for him to not go back to actually being a smart character that has more of a plan to take down Batman than just running forward until he hits a wall.
From what I've heard, the way I figure the story going is Batman fighting the Black Mask before he becomes the Black Mask, and during their fight Batman accidentally makes his mask permanent and then Black Mask hires a bunch of assassins and puts a bounty on Batmans head.

Oh God I just remembered that one guy who had Hamill down almost to the laugh. Cant remember who it was.
