WIND CHILL TOTALS COULD REACH -55F IN CENTRAL MINNESOTA
NORTHERN MINNESOTA COULD FACE HIGHS OF
“The safety of Minnesota’s schoolchildren must be our first priority,” Dayton said in a release Friday. “I have made this decision to protect all our children from the dangerously cold temperatures now forecasted for next Monday. I encourage Minnesotans of all ages to exercise caution in these extreme weather conditions.”
Although the state is used to frigid winters, the expected deep freeze surpasses even what hardy Minnesotans can handle.
According to the governor’s office, state law allows him to “authorize the commissioner of education to alter school schedules, curtail school activities, or order schools closed.”
Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius said that local school districts — not the state — will decide whether to open on Tuesday.
She explained that school officials typically like to wait until the weather forecast is as accurate as possible before making a decision. But in this case, as most school districts were coming off a two-week holiday break, state officials felt comfortable calling off school days in advance.
But warmer than Pluto!
They close down schools here if we get an inch of snow, or even a rumor of snow. Of course it'll be 25 degrees early in the week and by Friday it'll be 80 degrees...
One day we'll put a man on Winnipeg
Wimps.
- Love, Vancouver.

At least in my town, the city is working with local churches for something called "Code Blue" where every week when it drops below a certain temperature, a specific church will open it's doors all night for any homeless out.
Oh so that's where all our cold went. Almost reached 50c in some places here yesterday, and it was still at least 30c when I finished work at 11PM yesterday.
its 80F in California I need some cold ova here wtf
After moving up to McGregor, I can confirm. It's fucking freezing up here. Send oranges, please. Or canned air, our lungs will freeze otherwise.

Huh, the school district I went to would close for as little as -20°F. Of course, Minnesotans and Canadians probably can't afford to miss much school.
scrape up some of that weather and put it over here
still haven't been any snow here
We've never had anything below 15 degrees. I can't even imagine how cold it must be there.
Considering I live like 10 min from Minnesota border, I hopefully won't have school.
And to think I was complaining about how cold my footsies were in +55F degree weather, Jesus Christ
In my entire school career in Minneapolis, I got maybe 2 snow days. I graduate and the two years after get like 5 of them, including this one.
Fuck school.

I like to walk around barefoot like that, perfect temperature.
My school already canceled for Monday this morning. Ridiculous.
