Fast forward a few billion years. The Sun runs out of fusion fuel, it expands and goes Nova. The remaining gas is mostly heavy elements like Carbon and Oxygen. Those clouds of heavy elements, mixed with interstellar clouds of Hydrogen, form stars, and the Carbon and Oxygen support life on countless worlds. But those new stars go nova. The remaining gases from those cheerful balls of fusion will form planets around the new stars. But those remaining gases are never Hydrogen (lololol inverse fusion). There's a limit to the number of stars that will form. Fast forward a couple of trillions of years. There is no more interstellar Hydrogen. No more stars form. All the stars in the universe go out. All life dies. Sentiency can only support itself using H³ from comets as fusion fuel. Fast forward another trillion. There are no more stars, not even red dwarfs. The universe is a sea of black holes eating what little remains of this universe into singularities smaller than a thumb. Fast forward another trillion. Something strange happens. All those black holes that had swallowed the universe and, eventually, started swallowing each other, disappear into Hawking and Synchrotron radiation. Fast forward a couple of hundreds of trillions of years. Protons don't last forever. Protons go out. Same with photons a few billions of years later. There is no longer any matter in the universe. After a couple trillions of years, the universe is a cold and sterile place. The Heat Death: All the energy of the universe is evenly spread. After a googol years (1 followed by a hundred zeroes), this is still the same. But then, something happens. Out of nowhere, out of nothing, matter and energy are created. A tiny proton. Then, after an unimaginable amount of time, 3.0 x 10⁶⁹ Joules of energy are created. A new Big Bang. And this random creation, out of the Quantum Vacuum, could happen tomorrow, or in a billion trillion googols. But one thing is certain: You have existed an infinite number of times, and will continue to exist. This becomes even more mind-blowing if the Multiverse Theory turns out to be correct.
Relativistic quantum field theory makes a very clear distinction between what we would intuitively understand to be an absolute void and what we experience as the vacuum of space. Of course, even in the deepest reaches of space we will find an atom or molecule here and there, and photons of energy are flying through at the speed of light continuously, but there is also a quantum potential which exists at every point in the vacuum of our three-dimensional physical space. Under the proper conditions, matter and energy can literally be made to materialize out of what we used to think of as nothing. This is indeed a very bizarre thing for scientists to be taking seriously, but the fact is that it has actually been observed routinely in particle accelerators. Of course, this does not mean that any conceivable fantasy can be 'popped' out of space with ease. The conditions to create anything more than a scattering of subatomic particles would require extremely high energies and a control of the process far beyond any practical ability, at least with our present means. Nevertheless, according to the present mathematical models of physical theory, it is scientifically possible to create anything right out of the vacuum. Did I even have to say that was a quote? I'm just using it to prove a point.
You just blew my mind :psyboom:
whoa!
What the hell?!?
that's the Big freeze theory And I do believe this is how our universe will come to a frozen state But the random big bang I aint so sure about that. I hope the LHC can answer some of these question in the near future
There's been an excess of interesting threads lately. Pity there's no :psyboom: rating.
Then, after an unimaginable amount of time, 3.0 x 1069 Joules of energy are created. A new Big Bang.
Do I spot need of correction here?
And here are a couple of sources: http://www.cosmiclight.com/ofquasarsandquanta/vacuum.htm http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn16095-its-confirmed-matter-is-merely-vacuum-fluctuations.html
Do I spot need of correction here?
Sorry, typo. I edited it to 10⁶⁹.
This... makes complete sense...
That's actually really cool to think about, but scary at the same time. In a sense, Hitler and the holocaust has happened an infinite amount of times. Technically, the idea of everything having a destiny is true.

Just wanted to say something other than "ok"
It's only a theory based on no evidence whatsoever. We don't know what happens with he universe at the end. Will it stop to expand and attract itself again and after time just form a big black hole? We can't tell until it actually happens.
Where do the black holes lead to?
Where do the black holes lead to?
:iiam:
Where do the black holes lead to?
There's another thread on the theory that each leads to a different universe.

How are we then aware of what is happening right at this moment?
"Good artists copy, great artists steal" - Lord Pirate
But you didn't -- Hold on. That was the joke. God I'm slow.
Amazing theory.
i want to have sex with you eudoxia
Great thread Eudoxia. Rated informative.
So does this mean that there's a chance of us being re-born just obviously with no realization we existed before?
So does this mean that there's a chance of us being re-born just obviously with no realization we existed before?
Yes.
That's pretty sweet, and you must admit, Life is pretty weird.. Live -- > Die --> Possibly reborn --> Rinse and repeat
