Hi. So a friend gave me a video card and RAM modules after claiming my actual gear was outdated. Here's what he gave me : RAM : Kingston HX318C10FRK2/16 RAM 16GB Video card : Gigabyte Gaming-4GD Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 1178 MHz 4096 MB PCI Express And here's my current gear : System : aspire m5910 Processor : Intel Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz RAM : 4GB Video card : AMD Radeon HD 5700 Is there something I should do/change before installing those new components ? I'm quite new to PC building but I know I shouldn't install stuff before fully knowing what I'm getting into. Thanks for your help.
A motherboard and CPU upgrade would do you well. What''s your budget?
Unlimited budget. I already figured out how to put/remove RAM and video cards. Will probably ask my friend's help if I have to install a new CPU and/or MOBO as it seems too delicate for my crippled hands.
I agree that a new motherboard and cpu would be great. If you have an unlimited budget, an SSD would also be a good choice to accompany a regular HDD. Your computer will feel brand new (because at this point it pretty much is). Your current computer, if I'm reading it right, only has VGA as well. A new mother board will give you HDMI and DVI alongside VGA to work with, but be sure to get the right one so it'll fit in your Mini tower.
At this point you'd be better off with a new rig haha
