• Any website that returns a 404 my router redirects me?

So after I had some issues with my Linksys wireless router, I decided to do a hard reset. Afterwards, anytime I go to a link or any site that would generally return a 404 and my browser (chrome) would display "Site cannot be found" etc. So now after this reset everytime I go to a broken link, say facepunch.com/404 I get this: I'm really tired of it and can't seem to figure out why this happens. It doesn't even give me relevant results, just some shitty Linksys advertising. Anyone got any ideas why this is happening, or how to fix it?
Check your DNS settings in your router and your computer. The DNS settings might be set up to do this (either by Cisco or a virus).
Looks like a virus
You probably have Spyware, a router wouldn't use a search engine like that..
It's definitely not spyware or a virus. It's on Linksys' site.
It's definitely not spyware or a virus. It's on Linksys' site.
Either the Mal-ware, Ad-Ware, Spy-Ware, or virus is redirecting you. Regardless if it is Linksys or not.
I checked my router and Windows and don't have any modified DNS settings. Left: Router, Right: Windows [editline]05:51PM[/editline] Hosts file is completely clean.
X:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts Post this for us please, may help. [editline]10:53PM[/editline] Also download and run AdAware Free. Always worked for me.

Hosts file is completely clean.
Running AdAware and Malwaybytes now. This is a feature. There is a solution on the cisco forums:
TO TURN OFF CISCO WEB ASSISTANT and regain control of your router/network, go to the router configuration and go to the "Administration" section and you will see an option for this annoying function.
Official Instructions: http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=18038&p_created=1237777283
ahahahaha people think this is a virus

Get a router that DDWrt supports, and flash it with DDwrt, and use OpenDNS.
it's a custom dns error probably implemented by your isps default dns servers or your router it's against ICANN's set of standards but it gets done by a load of isps.
I really don't have the funds to afford a new wireless router right now, is there any other options?
Oh my god, a router is redirecting my 404 page to a search page. ITS A VIRUS Proof: Technical Support here is less as competent as my T1 helpdesk. And that says something.
Have you tried using a custom DNS from within windows? Such as Google's public DNS? The Ips are: 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4

Actually I don't think changing DNS would fix this. He says that this is happening when he gets a 404 back form the webserver. So the router seems to be detecting when that happens and replaces it with a redirect to Cisco's site.
Yeah, a DNS change didn't fix this. It must be the router doing as compwhizii said. So short of buying a new router, is there anything I can do?
