So guys, what is the best free antivirus program?
Right now I'm using AVG 9 free
Done pretty well for me so far, but are there any better ones?
Cheers.
Avast! is pretty good, in my opinion.
Not this thread again
use the damn search button its there for a reason
Avast! It updates virus database every day, and stops the viruses before they can download, unlike many.
Common sense, works well.

Or panda cloud where there is no need to update and stops viruses before you download them.

Some things can get even the most careful people. Best to be on the safe side with something light.
avast! is pretty popular. I just use MSE, but I rarely use Windows so my opinion isn't that valuable.

Watch the video it describes it in very simple terms but they do not have a more in depth one.
Microsoft security essentials

Yeah, I've heard good things about this. If I ever stop being able to get NOD32 keys for nine bucks I'll switch to MSE. (For people looking for $9 copies of NOD32, NCIX has them on sale every now and then.)
its a bit late, and i'm struggling to get my head around panda cloud. Laymens terms please?

What it does it it redirects all you internet through there servers and they do a real time search for viruses while you explore. It also can scan comparing it to a database held on there servers so all updates are almost instantaneous.
Thanks sbradford26, much easier to understand, seems like a very good idea also

Just your computer.
Or panda cloud where there is no need to update and stops viruses before you download them.
Yeah, but Avast! updates the virus database, so that if there's a virus that just got discovered you're protected from it.
I don't know anything about panda cloud, that's just what I meant in my post.
MSE, works good.

My Avast updates once per day in under one minute of me logging on.

Well technically panda cloud updates every milisecond but really click on my link ^ up there watch the video and you will understand because pandacloud doesn't need to update at all.
Avast! and Common Sense 2010, if you don't have that, then go away.
