A 13-year-old Oklahoma boy shot himself to death Wednesday in front of classmates after showing up at his junior high school dressed as the super-villain Two Face from the Batman series.
The student, Cade Poulos, used a handgun to commit suicide in a crowded hallway at Stillwater Junior High School, cops said.
“It doesn’t appear that anyone else was in danger or threatened,” said Stillwater Police Capt. Randy Dickerson, adding that the school and a nearby elementary school were put on lockdown as a precaution.
Dickerson said a school resource officer heard the gunshot just before the 8 a.m. school bell sounded and found the red-headed eighth-grader dead in a hallway.
Cops were investigating where the student obtained the gun.

Some students suggested Poulos was despondent over being bullied.
On a Facebook page memorializing him, one classmate wrote, “I hope people realize now that bullying is NOT acceptable, and it hurts people every way. We know what you experienced.”

Not a joke, but I seriously hope he didn't make his decision over a quarter flip...

Should've dressed as a Saint.
Those guys are true heroes.

Unfortunately, judging from the fact that he wasn't the first person to take their own life due to bullying, I highly doubt that the people who should be realizing this actually will.
This is extremely sad, it's even more sad that the people who witnessed it most likely will need psychological help, and that more and more kids that are bullied and suicidal will be ignored.

The people that witnessed the kid blow his brains out probably witnessed him being bullied every single day, watching the bullying go on but never even bothered to even defend the kid, let alone report the bullying to school officials. I don't feel sorry for them at all, since they were the ones that allow bullying culture to exist, and deserve as much blame as the bullies themselves.

That's a pretty extensive assumption......
Yeah, I'm sure every single person in the entire school was part of the problem because I'm sure he was constantly publicly bullied in front of every student.
Or maybe most people didn't even know the damn kid. At my school someone had to leave because he brought a knife to school due to bullying and I had never seen the kid in my entire life, was I part of the problem as well? Had he stabbed someone I would beg to differ
so many deaths associated with Batman lately.

Child victims of the Bystander affect don't deserve to deal with serious psychological trauma. This is going to really screw with a lot of kids' heads for a long time.

Besides, we don't know for certain that students weren't reporting the bullying. It very well could have been that the administration didn't do anything to stop it, despite being made aware of it.

Bystander effect's a bitch.
I wonder if he flipped a coin to see if he shoots himself before shooting others.

Sometimes nothing is done even if the kid is known by the school to be horrible.
This is why I moved. There was this kid named Tyler Downs that gave me so much trouble, threatening to kill me and such (he's already stabbed a few in the bathroom). He's been reported by half the people in the school for the things he's done. For some fucking strange reason, the guidance counselors only bothered to give me some advice and offer to give me a number to text them if I ran into trouble.
I don't even have a phone. I don't understand why some schools just let this happen.

dude that would have gotten him praise if he went to my school

and with good reason, that kind of shit's awesome

don't report someone saying "hey carrot top" in the halls?
you deserve to witness a suicide!

lol
his last name is downs
Christ, the picture didn't load for me, so calling the kid a "redhead" looked so fucking macabre for a newspaper

thats a pretty massive and baseless assumption.

you make the assumption that the surrounding students paid any attention to him in the first place
I always get this eerie feeling whenever I look at pictures of kids before they commited suicide.
What's even creepier is when you read someone's tweets and statuses before they die. Like this one girl who died at Warped Tour, I saw her last tweet about 5 minutes before she died.
[QUOTE=Primigenes;37814615]How did he get his hand on a gun?

Not sure of where you're from; but it's not too difficult to get your hands on a gun in America.
[QUOTE=Primigenes;37814615]How did he get his hand on a gun?

Probably took it from his parents. I can't see him walking into a gun store and buying one.

um it is when you're 13?
It's not like he went to the store and bought one.

Yea it's pretty easy even at 13. It's not uncommon for a 13 year old kid to live in a house with at least one firearm within distance.

Wow , you're way the fuck out of your mind.

Especially so in Oklahoma. I have a friend who has always been a bit worried about how lax people were about guns when he moved there, coming from a liberal suburb in Michigan.
What is it with Batman, if anything, that seems to make itself associated with psychological problems, if that's the right word to use? I doubt it's that related, but it is a pretty odd coincidence.
