I was looking at a thread in here and I saw a really cool idea, live stream urbex. There are two really good buildings around where I live that I could get into easily and that are both really interesting. I've been inside one of them before many times, and the other I haven't ever been into. So, I want you guys to vote on the one that I go into and the best time for everyone to watch a live ustream feed of it.
Option 1 - School 4
This school was abandoned in 1960 and has two floors, an "auditorium", a stage, a boiler room, under ground passages, and a balcony. This is the building I've been inside of.

Option 2 - Bank or Hospital?
I can't remember if it's a bank or an old hospital but I do know that it is down town and at least 9 stories tall. I can't remember where it is exactly though so I won't have a google maps link for that one quite yet. This is the building I have not been inside of. I'll get a link and some more info soon. I'm fairly certain it's a bank because my other friend was telling me about getting underground into a vault.
Once we decide on the location we can decide on the time, I can do anytime from 10am-7pm EST, pretty much any day of the week. I will be doing live polls for you guys to answer once I am inside, questions like "should i do [x]?" or "left or right?" or "up these stairs?".
I need some help with Ustream, for some reason when I do it on my phone it only works for a few seconds, and any suggestions on how to make this better for everyone would be helpful, I'm pretty much making this up as I go along. Rate agree for option 1, the school, and disagree for option 2, the tall downtown building. Sorry about all the text.
Also, I plan on doing a tag after I've explored the entire thing, so I'll leave the camera on after it's done if anyone wants to watch me paint
I'm sure the building doesn't need another barely legible "tag" on it.
Why would you automatically assume that I'm bad at spraypainting? I understand that most people don't know anything about it, but I do.
I'm not talking about a single line black scrawly thing, I'm talking about an entire pieced fill in.
I practice all the time, I use professional grade paint, I know what I'm doing, and I wouldn't be putting the tag on the outside of the building because that's tacky. The building is also never going to be repaired and will just be demolished, and whatever I "tag" in there will be better than most everything already in there, so what is the problem with doing something that I'm good at, is fun for me to do, and isn't harming anyone?
sounds cool
i vote for the school it would probably be more interesting

id get a kick if you put your tag in the girls bathroom
The school is pretty cool, the auditorium roof fell out really early on so the entire auditorium is more of a courtyard. I've never been into the building down town though so that would be a surprise for everyone.

The girls bathroom is weird, it's probably the most destroyed room in the entire thing. The boys bathroom on the other hand still has almost every urinal in it still, and is probably the coldest room.
Sounds like a cool idea. I vote for the school.

It isn't urbex if you "tag" while there, but I suppose its better there than on the streets
You guys are so weird about graffiti. I honestly don't see the problem in doing it in a building that is ready to be demolished but if it will upset everyone so much then I won't do it.
I understand that I shouldn't vandalize anything while urbexing but it wouldn't be damaging anything and it would just be something for the next people to look at, but again, if everyone is against it then I won't do it.
We are weird about that and taking things. But its better for it to be in a building ready for demolition than on a street.
Not trying to be an ass but what is the problem with it? When I'm exploring and I come across a good tag it's really cool, I just thought it would be fine to leave a good one myself for someone else. But I'll respect it
I don't really know its just the "Take nothing but pictures. leave nothing but foot prints" motto most have took up, it might be so that urbexers leave it the way it is so others can also appreciate it.
Yeah, if anything I'd consider what I'd be doing adding to it, but I won't do it.
So I guess the school is going to win. We need to decide on a time now.

A lot of people enjoy urban exploration because they like to see how older buildings and architecture have decayed. I, for one, find it less enjoyable when there is graffiti all over everything. It takes away from the natural beauty of the location and it's childish.
Good explanation. I wouldn't consider it childish but there is a lot of garbage that people put up. I understand it that way though so I won't do it there.
It seems that the votes are pretty much split half and half (with the votes from posts). My friend told me more about the building downtown and apparently it's double the height that I thought it was, so I think I'm gonna go for that one. The only problem with that is I'm gonna have to be really slick to do that during the day time because it's dead in the middle of down town and there are loads of cops in my city. Maybe I could do it right before dawn and then let the sun rise, so I'd have dark to hide then light to see when I'm inside.

You should really check out this if you haven't already: http://detroiturbex.com/
Wonderful pictures of old buildings and stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I have tons of respect for people who can create graffiti in public places and have it meaningful. Just people scrawling "DAVID WUZ HERE" on highway embankments is what I'm talking about.

The school portion of that Detroit site is really cool too!
I'm expecting some mad can control bro.

Oh well that isn't what I do haha. Even when the word(s) I'm doing are simple or the letter have no meaning, the way it forms and the color represents other things.

You know I got it bro! I just gotta get more caps cause my friend lost all of mine :v:
Looks like the votes have changed to the bank. I mean, really I'm going to do both I'm just asking which one you guys would rather see first. I just wanna make sure that people are going to actually watch.
I would really recommend you get a normal camera your phone is going to look like a huge mess. My friend once livestreamed a day what he did is get his laptop and than hook-up his phone to the laptop for the 3G internet connection. Than get a normal camera and connect that with Firewire, than in the ustream program select the firewire to broadcast. You will get a lot better image quality and just put the laptop in a laptop bag and strap it around your back, than just walk around with the camera.
You might even find a way to attach your phone to the camera so you can read the chat.
Yeah I was trying to find a way to switch to something better, especially considering that I'll be going into the one that I haven't been to before. The camera I have is alright but it isn't amazing, it's just little and durable. I'll get my brother to help me figure out how to set everything up, he's much better at things like that than I am.
Do you think one of those flip cameras would work alright? I could get a hold of one of those.
Damn, meant to add it to the last post.
Let me know when you do this. I def wanna watch.
I'm not sure when I'm going to do it yet, I really wanna make sure I'll have an audience of at least 5 people, hopefully more than that.
Tell me when you do it.
I want to see it!
