Yard Sales and Bargain Bins; or, the advantages of being a cheapass (BIG PICS)
59 replies, posted
We've all gone past yard sales and bargain bins, scoffing at the people who flock there, labelling them as "cheap". Sometimes, it pays to be cheap. Visiting your local garage sales and Goodwill has benefits that can save you a lot, especially since used items that are sold are generally like new or as good as. Here's some

Weird, but cool shit, including a $4 lifesize plastic iguana, Leather Goddesses of Phobos 2, bought for 50c, and Freeway for the Atari 2600, bought for 10.
Bargain bin hunting and Yard Sale foraging is incredibly fun, you can find all kinds of cool shit for real cheap. Theres a ton of even more shit I haven't shown you, because I'm too lazy to find everything.
I mean sure, a lot of it is junk, but it's good junk
The best part is, a lot of Church sales have barbeques going on, with hotdogs and burgers being grilled and served right there and then, usually for a dollar. Sometimes, in smaller sales, kids even sell lemonade and drinks.
Another advantage of these kinds of sales is the fact that you can haggle, and easily save money. For example, if you've bought an armfull of stuff for a total of $10, they'll usually let you have it for $7 or something. Even if they don't offer a discount, you can always haggle to bring the total down.
Remember, one man's junk is another man's gold
Use this thread to brag all you want about those kickass deals you got.
That is a lot of junk.

Pulsating inconvenience?
:q:
That stuffed raccoon would be the perfect present for my mom.
They sold those pistols at Disneyland at the Pirate store until 9/11.

"Hi you've reached Ron's taxidermy - you snuff 'em, we stuff 'em."
Wow, you've got a lot of pointless stuff. And that lamp is ugly. Well done on your bargains though.
Hello Pentium v2
Holy shit I'm jealous.

About that raccoon I mean. Great raccoon deal.
I wish the bargain bins or yard sales around my area had cool stuff like yours. The shit around here is actual shit. :(

Incidentally, that was the name of the guy who sold me this
Seriously, what is with all the old format movies and music. Unless you like vintage stuff, why bother?

It's more about getting stuff that you like at a cheaper price than the medium it's on
I have a ton of records and an entire stereo system (CD changer, Cassette deck that I haven't hooked up, stereo, phonograph, and a reel-reel tape deck) that I've gotten second hand, I go to yard sales all the time. I've found video games in the box at goodwill before, never opened and half the retail price or more. For ~$1 I got a copy of Painkiller a couple days ago.
Some of that I'd really like, some...well I don't know why you'd bother.
Posters, record player, lava lamp and raccoon for sure.

I have the same exact one, also from a yard sale
Garage/yard sales aren't complete without one,if I have one soon this will be in it as well
It's more about getting stuff that you like at a cheaper price than the medium it's on
And then selling them on eBay....
I must become a bargain shopper!!!! There are so many cool things!
And bravo on finding all of this stuff
My family's poor, so pretty much all of my clothing comes from Value Village.
You can find some great stuff there.
Or Goodwill Outlet. My sister buys clothing (literally) by the pound.

I got a U-desk similar to this for $50. Fuck yeah yard sales. :smug:
That raccoon scared me :frown:
Your amazing :3
You're going to be a hoarder
You're going to be a hoarder
Naw, I don't collect garbage. Infact, I sell a lot of the stuff I buy. I don't really intend on keeping these all my life (except maybe the Raccoon and the Iguana)
Why would you buy a stuffed Raccoon?
Damn, nice stuff.
Getting old memorabilia from old neighbors moving out is the best
Only thing of interest is the Nintendo 64 and the games.
Dude, you found a working typewriter?
That's awesome, I've been trying to find a working one also, just to mess around with, us it for stuff, and who doesn't hate the sound of the keys on a typewriter?
