Tbh this confidence is a good sign
Still a bit shitty that they didn't release a demo
Still a bit shitty that they didn't release a demo
It is explained in the article. Put it down more to lack of budget and time allowance rather than they couldn't be arsed.
Still a bit shitty that they didn't release a demo
There's so many studies showing demo hurt sales. Average joe plays a game for only a few hours, maybe they play the demo and decide they've got their fill. Or, they'll play the demo, not like it (whether it's a accurate depiction of the game or not" and then not buy it. This isn't 1995. If someone wants to get an idea for a game, they no longer have to rely on shitty magazine articles or demos, they can just google "X game letsplay". Shitty practice or not there are 0 financial incentives to make a demo nowadays.

They must be confident enough that nobody is going to refund, considering that afaik Valve keep their commission on each sale meaning that the developer/publisher actually have to give back 10% more than they originally got for each refund to make up for Valve's cut. Am I right about that?
Am I right about that?
I haven't heard anything about that and not seeing anything to back it up/don't think they would or could pull that kind of crap. However if you request a refund and leave it at the default "Refund to Steam Wallet", Steam kinda gets a net positive because your money stays in their ecosystem and they'll get it eventually. But all you have to do is change the default to "Refund to Credit Card" and you're good.

I really think they should change how people can review a game, like, over 2 hours, past the refund time, then you're allowed to review, no more fucking 0.1 hour reviewers just talking shit.
I really think they should change how people can review a game, like, over 2 hours, past the refund time, then you're allowed to review, no more fucking 0.1 hour reviewers just talking shit.
There are games that are under an hour long though and not even in a way that's reasonable, in a way that is basically a scam that and there ARE legitimate games that are under 2 hours and not a scam. There are a fuckload in fact.
It is explained in the article. Put it down more to lack of budget and time allowance rather than they couldn't be arsed.
I don't see how a proper PC Demo is all that much more effort, when you can do it for consoles already.
