• My 2000 GBP Sony Vaio keeps bluescreening

So guys, my brand new, top-range Sony Vaio keeps bluescreening. It happens mostly when gaming (graphics card related?) but also happens randomly when on Facebook, MSN and the internet in general. I've noticed that whenever I play games, either downloaded or on the internet, it is prone to bluescreen more often than when it randomly bluescreens at other times. It's really getting me down, because i've dished out all this money and it's as if I wasted it. I contacted customer support, and they told me to send it in to them and they'd get it fixed within 5 working days, but it's way too long. And past experiences with Sony has always ended up with me getting my pc back (I had a laptop a few years back that kept bluescreening right from the factory. I had to send it to them 3 times before I gave up and got a refund. They seemed to think formatting fixes everything, it doesn't.) and it still being broken. I honestly don't want to send it off for 5 working days (it'll actually be around 7-8 days in total) just to get it back and have it blue screen on me. Pissing me off, because at the moment, whenever I hop on a game with a few mates (League of Legends at the moment), i'll bluescreen mid-game which ends up throwing teams off scale and causing my team mates to lose. If I ever rejoin, i'll be in for a few minutes before I blue screen again. I'm seriously losing it. Hoping for any help at all. What can I do to help you guys help me? Thanks.
Constant, random blue screening is usually a sign of broken RAM but if you try to fix it yourself you'll void the warranty. Just send it in to sony, perhaps with a little note hinting that it might be faulty RAM and dont be such an impatient child.
Just send it off to Sony, it's your best option unless you want to void the warrenty.
Reformat the HD and see if the problem persists. If it does you've got a hardware issue and you need to contact Sony to get an RMA. Good luck!
Just send it off to Sony, it's your best option unless you want to void the warrenty.
This. If you touch it you're going to void the shit out, and if you void it out, you're fucked if something major goes bad. Even if you're sure what the problem is don't touch it man.
Alright. Cheers for the help. Also, just to let you know, I already formatted AND ran system diagnostic checks. They didn't help. I guess i'll send it off this Monday or something... Problem is i've got coursework which I do on the PC at the moment. God damn, all I want to do is play a decent game of Empire: Total War. It always blue screens just as i'm about to crush my enemy. Was against 1400 Cherokee (there were 3 generals, they all reinforced each other) warriors with my measly 600 soldiers consisting of mostly militia and some line infantry and 2 units of cavalry. I attacked each general in turn and used my horses to keep the other generals at bay so they couldn't amass. Was easy when I wiped em out one by one :p Then it crashed when I was on the last general. PS: Knew the waiting would pay off. Didn't want to unnecessarily bump this thread.
If you get it back and it does it again, sell it on ebay and build a new PC. Sony are hopeless with computers (like most mainstream prebuilt companies)

You might just be overheating it.
Hard drive. Did you hit it hard lately?
Hard drive. Did you hit it hard lately?
Nope? Also, to the guy saying about fans, it's a PC, not a laptop. And it's well ventilated. And to the guy that said to sell it on EBay if they mess up. I'm pretty sure I can get a full refund, or replacement. I'll likely go with a refund.

You won't be disappointed with £2k worth of home built computer.

PC is back! They replaced the whole motherboard (it's one of those all-in-one Vaio PC things, so the motherboard had integrated graphics card and all that) and it works like a charm. Sadly, Dads gone into super-paranoia time mode, and he won't let me do anything on it. Damn. Gaming rig is in another country, and I'm stuck with this one for the time being. Will be about a year before I can ship my gaming pc over :( Oh well, at least it's fixed. Gonna play hell of a lot of Minecraft and just run steam off of my flash drive.
Integrated graphics..? Empire TW..? £2000!..? Dad taking ownership of PC?!
Integrated graphics..? Empire TW..? £2000!..? Dad taking ownership of PC?!
:p Yes haha Also, breaking news: Dad has just told me there are to be no games on the PC. Partly because he's scared it'll break the PC and partly because he wants me to focus on studying (funny, because I keep on top of homework and everything). So yeah, £2000 for a PC that no one is going to use to it's full potential. What a waste. He'd be better off replacing this with a £800 rig that works just as well.
Make that £300-400 if you build it yourself.
I will if I ever get the chance.
