• Trump on Iran ship behavior: 'They will be shot out of the water'
Pensacola, Florida (CNN)Donald Trump vowed Friday that if Iran inappropriately approached US ships, they would be "shot out of the water." "And by the way, with Iran, when they circle our beautiful destroyers with their little boats and they make gestures that our people -- that they shouldn't be allowed to make, they will be shot out of the water," he said at a rally here. Taking such action would have tremendous ramifications and would likely be considered an act of war. The comments, even given Trump's penchant for tough language, are unusual for a presidential candidate. Trump appeared to be referring to a series of close encounters between the US and Iran in international waters in the Persian Gulf. An Iranian ship came within 100 yards of a US Navy patrol ship earlier this week in what the US Navy described as an "unsafe and unprofessional" action involving "harassing maneuvering."

But Trump, the Republican nominee, has repeatedly argued that Obama has been too "weak" on the world stage and vowed a more aggressive posture, including threatening more serious military action.
http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/09/politics/donald-trump-iran/ Do you want WW3? Because this is how you get WW3.
Trump like a toxic, sad and evil version of Teddy Rough Riding Roosevelt.
let'S GO TO WAAAAAAAAAR
Trump's absolutely brainless. Which is why it's a good thing he isn't winning the coming election.
and middle east war 3 will start over a couple zodiacs and fucking crazy trump, but if the two-faced trump we saw in mexico and arizona is any indication, he will be a meek little lamb to iran because he likes to be praised.
And yet we still have people saying Clinton is a warmonger and Trump will bring peace because he says nice things about Putin
What's the policy for violating the perimeter? Didn't they tighten it after the Cole to where if you do get to close you're blasted? Last I heard the Iranians got close enough that we fired actual bullets in front of them as a warning. If this harassment is taking place in International waters I think we definitely should take them more serious. But shooting them should be the absolute last resort. (not unless the ships face imminent danger to life from the Iranian vessels)

He didn't say "They should take it more seriously." There is no reason to believe the crews on these ships aren't taking it more seriously. He outright said ships would be fired upon for the crime of making gestures. This is far more provocative than what Clinton said about cyberattacks but for some reason it's not getting the same level of coverage, presumably because Iranian ships fucking around in the Gulf has become somewhat common in the last couple of years.
how to cripple a historical deal in 30 seconds

Like I said we shouldn't fire on ships that get close to our ships unless they pose an immediate threat. I was wondering whether or not we already had such a thing in place. Trump's suggestion is needlessly aggressive. Though I'm not against firing warning shots, flares, smoke, or using LRADS on them. Go wild with the non-lethal stuff.
Trump's absolutely brainless. Which is why it's a good thing he isn't winning the coming election.
You know Hillary's also hostile towards Iran right?
You know Hillary's also hostile towards Iran right?
She wouldn't order people to attack them for name-calling or flipping the bird.
b-but hillary's a war hawk!!
You know Hillary's also hostile towards Iran right?
She's not against the deal or better relations currently. She sure as fuck wouldn't blow their shit up.
Doesn't he mean into the water? Unless he wants to send boats flying.
b-but hillary's a war hawk!!
worst thing is they both are
will he sink their airforce too?
Someone should ask him about the USS John C. Stennis incident next time he's shouting about Iran. He'll probably say, 'what?'
Good.
Good.
Yes man, shoot first and ask questions later always ends well. Iran politically right now is not the most stable or caring place but it currently has the potential to change, let's not ruin it
It would be an interesting thing for the history books though. "The great Iran-America war of 2017 started when an iranian sailor farted in the direction of a US naval ship."
I despise Trump as much as the next rational person, but there is a slight historical precedence to this: Operation Praying Mantis. Now the circumstances between what Trump is proposing and this are vastly different, but I can see how he or his campaign staff might justify this line of thinking.
