The most recent struggles of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has ballooned Hillary Clinton’s lead over the GOP nominee to 12 percentage points among likely voters in a new poll, up 8 points from a similar survey conducted just three weeks ago.
The Monmouth University poll released Monday afternoon puts Clinton ahead of Trump, 50 percent to 38 percent, in a four-way race that also includes Libertarian Gary Johnson and the Green Party’s Jill Stein. The former secretary of state’s lead is up significantly from the 4-point advantage she held in a Monmouth poll last month.
...
Clinton’s favorability rating remained poor but steady relative to the previous poll, with just 38 percent of voters holding a favorable opinion of her and 52 percent holding an unfavorable opinion. The number of respondents with a favorable opinion of Trump dipped 6 points, from 32 percent to 26 percent, while his unfavorable numbers climber 4 points, from 57 percent to 61 percent.

Good. At this rate election day will be a landslide for Clinton. Hope that Trump will go out gracefully and concede defeat after the votes are counted, though he probably won't and will start a big shitstorm over it.
Anyways, it's shaping up to look like the democrats are taking back the Senate and keeping the whitehouse, so I'm optimistic about the next 4 years. 4 more years of the Democratic platform, essentially.

If Trump does concede peacefully people will think he's being intimidated. It's a no-win situation.
Regardless of results this election day there will, unfortunately, be violence. Stay safe out there FP
And if you support Clinton, still get out there to vote even if polls make you think "Oh, this'll be a landslide." That's not guaranteed, and a 60-40 popular vote victory on election day itself would send a much stronger message than something like 2000's or 1960's results.
Crazy thing is that Trump lacks any kind of GOTV operation, and is likely depressing his own turnout by saying the whole thing will be rigged anyway, so Clinton is more likely to overperform than underperform her polls

Surely the GOP has some sort of GOTV framework?
Trump may have pissed off part of the GOP leadership, but I assume they'd utilize it to support their down-ballot candidates anyway.

GOP has abandoned funding or supporting Trump's campaign
Things are looking pretty bad for the GOP for the Senate race as well

That's what was reported almost two weeks ago, but Priebus promised that the RNC will stand by Trump.
What I am trying to say, anyway, is that the GOP definitely supports down-ballot Republicans. So why would they not use their GOTV operations to support these guys?

Because it's a futile effort and a waste of money they could otherwise use to save the Senate or defend the house from democrats

Maybe I am misunderstanding how US elections function, but does the senate election not coincide with the presidential one?
Maybe I am misunderstanding how US elections function, but does the senate election not coincide with the presidential one?
The Republicans have a finite amount of money. They'd be better off trying to promote their senate/local candidates instead of waste money on an unwinnable presidential race.
GOTV stuff would still benefit the Republicans in general, but the Republicans have historically had a bad GOTV campaign (partly because they've had a historically high rate of voting to begin with). So their funding usually goes to candidate promotion rather than GOTV.

Really super worried here too, especially in such a bad city

Most recent report I can find is this LA Times article from today which says they could find no evidence of any kind of organised Trump ground operation in Ohio
Maybe I am misunderstanding how US elections function, but does the senate election not coincide with the presidential one?
I mean it would make more sense for the GOP to spend money on the Senate election and not the presidential election because the presidential election is lost
[editline]17th October 2016[/editline]
Instead of spending on states or districts which are contentious for the presidential race, spend it in districts which are contentious for the house and senate
do not get complacent, those of you voting for hillary.
complacency is the first step to failure. go and vote. make the landslide so horribly steep that trump never considers politics again
The ones yelling that they'll cause violence shouldn't be too concerning, while Trump is certainly causing shit and green lighting violence (or, at least, strongly implies it) the people who say they'll do all this violent shit are ultimately either social outcasts who live in areas where there's hardly any minorities hanging around or are spineless cowards who will back down.

palosci is even considering the idea of getting her gavel back (though honestly she is like hillary probably not what people want)
Maybe I am misunderstanding how US elections function, but does the senate election not coincide with the presidential one?
The elections sometimes happen simultaneously (Presidents come up for vote every 4 years, but senators every 6 years), but the elections are independent of one another. Each voting district gets a unique ballot with all contested seats which specifically represent that district. That means a person can vote for a Democratic president and a Republican senator or house representative on the same ballot if they want to.
In this situation, the Republican Party is considering taking money they would have used to promote Trump nationwide and instead dividing it up among senatorial and house candidates around the country, in hopes that they win their individual elections. That would allow Clinton to take the presidency, but would saddle her with an uncooperative Congress.

Even if he doesn't start a shit-storm over it, having spoken to some of his supporters, there's no doubt in my mind that there will be conspiracies claiming Hillary threatened him because reasons and feels and stuff.
many of his supporters seem to think the elections are rigged and Trump is actually up 6 points nationally
if anyone actually read my post, you may have prostate cancer
A lot of people seem to think Trump is secretly winning by the popular vote because the Clinton campaign is "acting desperate"
as if the Trump campaign isn't.

As corrupt as Clinton is, I going to believe the right wing militias will begin action if she wins. If Trump wins, race riots.
When Clinton likely wins, I won't go out and celebrate history being made in front of the white house or something, ill just stay home.
Sucks that a good day will be marred by violent assholes.

That's what I'm worried about. Talked to an electrician that our company does a lot of work with, and he says he's voting Trump because Hillary wants to take his guns away. :/

a lot of people think that. someone I talked to recently said they hate trump in every way but doesnt want his guns taken away, and that they'd have to pry them from his cold dead hands.

look at brexit
that was supposed to be a landslide remain so nobody was that bothered
the vocal minority won it, partly because everyone else didn't turn out
