I Just got this old computer for like $25 from one of my friends to replace my dying laptop.
I was planning on taking my gtx560 from the family computer and putting it in my new one.
But the problem is its the family computer and my siblings like to play minecraft and flash games on it.
The family computer is only a year old so its not going to be terrible.
What should I do?
Take it out
or
Buy my own card (I do not have the money or a job)
how old is this computer? does the motherboard have the right slots? would the 560 be bottlenecked if you put it in there?
i'd say there's more than just a moral dilemma. leave it in which ever computer is better / compatible

Its like 5 years old. It looks like it supports it. And yeah it will fit. I just dont want to wait til after 9 to play my games
I should also add that when I do have enough money, I will purchase a card to replace it.

You should bye your own card, if you cant come up with the cash sell something, or get a job
The older computer could probably run Minecraft so just swap the cards.
Stealing is bad
Well if It's your Graphics Card in the family computer then you have the right to take it.
Minecraft doesn't require that powerful of a Graphics Card to play it anyway so I'm guessing the family computer would still be able to run it on its default graphics. If there's any other games that are a problem then either just let your siblings play on your computer when it isn't a problem, get them to buy their own Graphics Card if they're old enough to earn money (In which case if they aren't, ask a parent?) or just buy a cheaper Graphics card for the family computer that will run the games they want to play.
If all they're into is playing Minecraft and Flash games then there really isn't a problem, it's unnecessary having that Graphics Card in there just for that and to go to the expense of buying another one.
im gonna go swap it out then see how it all works
If they complain il put it back.
fuck it dont fit.

Take a pic of it open so we can see how it looks inside please? Also depending on where you live you can find a decent GPU for between 20-50 bucks on Tiger Direct or Newegg (prefer Tiger Direct though)
Seriously,I don't see the problem in changing cards if all they do with the family computer is play minecraft and flash games
Its not cool to take the family card, its even a little selfish
Get a job
Get money
Buy your own card.
Taking it out of the family computer is a dick move. At best, ask your folks to lend you money.

Why?Its a waste of energy and money if you ask me.
Unless minecraft can't be run by a 5 year old card,I don't see why the family gets to use a high-end card when all they do is play minecraft and flash games when OP probably plays newer games which need more powerful hardware.
I think people are overestimating the optimization of minecraft.
Well OP can swap the cards and see if minecraft works fine with the old card.
If it doesn't OP has two choices
1)Get the 560 and buy a cheap, less powerful card that can run minecraft decently
2)Save/Earn money and buy something better than a 560
Take it out and replace it with any older graphics card,it's not like the computer is used for anything else than flash games,so no harm done.
See if you can get a cheap card that would work decently on the family computer.

It's an absolute waste for a family computer used only for flash games/minecraft to have an older gaming graphics card on it.
Either way, it'd be a bit selfish to leave the family PC without a card.
Wait does the old computer even have a card?
Some people here act like it doesn't and some people here act like it does

You need special GPUs for laptops. I guess the family computer is a desktop?
Sell something you don't need? [sp] like your Gold membership[/sp]
Well I sold the computer and doubled my money. So I guess mission accomplished.

I don't see what difference it makes to them if all they play is Minecraft and Flash games.
I guess OP should probably ask his parents first, but if they're reasonable then they shouldn't really have a problem with him taking it because it causes nobody any problems and It's a big convenience for him.
You don't need a gtx 560 for minecraft that is a bit overkill so I say take it and just never discuss it.

My friend plays minecraft on a laptop without a gpu and it runs suprising well on the lowest graphics settings so with a 5 year old gpu they will be able to run it.
