the facial animations and acting is so bad
I feel like bioware is funneling less and less budgeting into their games with every release
the facial animations and acting is so bad
Like you see Half-Life 2 come out in 2004 and had beautiful facial animations. 12 years later we get this. Why can't Bioware devote any sort of time into making their characters faces look better when they animate in a series that heavily revolves around speech? Like its the great looking Krogan, the cool Turian, the fucking human that looks like it belongs on a wikihow page.
at least they still have biotic charge :v:
they cant make the excuse that its the engines fault when BF1 runs on the same engine and has way better facial animations in its cutscenes
Obviously, it seems like Bioware just picked the easier option of having the lip sync be generated somehow with minor touchups by the animators. It kinda makes sense for RPG's where a lot of dialogue is present, but still Witcher 3 managed that way better.
The face animations aren't great but everything else looks so rad I don't mind too terribly much. I think a lot of it might also just be the odd proportions on the default female protags face exaggerating the animations. *performs slick disarm move on dude with gun* [t]http://i.imgur.com/wrt6BzE.png[/t] :ok:
That disarm... wtf *casually slaps gun from turian's hands with shit eating grin* Combat looks like it could be okay, but I'm not sure how we'll be controlling our squad and the animations look pretty jerky at times. Also hope the FOV can be increased.
they cant make the excuse that its the engines fault when BF1 runs on the same engine and has way better facial animations in its cutscenes
Its trade-offs. Think of it like any other aspect of game design. If you want a bigger world, some of it will have to be procedural. Same philosophy applies when you have a game with tens of thousands of lines of dialogue. Most of the lip synch is just going to be generated and you don't have the time to give it all the personal touches like you do in a more contained game like BF1. Its adequate for Mass Effect.
It's a shame. The environments look gorgeous, there are some really talented environment artists at Bioware, it's just a shame the writing and character animations are so dogshit. [editline]2nd December 2016[/editline] Also why even make it in a new galaxy if it's just gonna have the same old aliens. Just seems like the game initially sounded a little bit Star Trek, y'know, "Go make first contact with a shitload of aliens, learn their strange ways, find out the conflicts they have, try and find humanity's place in this hostile environnment". But instead it just looks like Mass Effect 2: 2. [editline]2nd December 2016[/editline] "A new galaxy awaits, how far will you go" isn't a bad x-statement, but Bioware suck at doing compelling moral choices. They fall into the trap of "burn down the orphanage for shits and giggles, or become jesus and personally bless all the children" which isn't a compelling dilemma. The Witcher series does moral dilemmas a lot better.
I think the trailer only shows races we've already seen because they dont want to "spoil" the new races when it's possible to not do so. I also think it's a little bit early to be calling the writing "dogshit" (the MC animations really are; they claim to be still finishing those up but we've seen some pretty great animations from BioWare before).
You can actually see a couple of new aliens in there. Weird they didn't give them more of a spotlight though.
What the fuck is up with her face?
yes
