[QUOTE]OTTAWA—Kelly Coulter was pleasantly surprised to see a message about legalizing marijuana her organization had delivered to Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau last year make a big splash Thursday morning.
“We feel that prohibition does not protect our children. It does not make our communities safer and it does not make our streets safer, just as alcohol prohibition made for unsafe communities,” said Coulter from Kingston, Ont., as she recalled what she and another representative from NORML Women’s Alliance of Canada told Trudeau in a meeting last November.
That message, according to an interview published Thursday that Trudeau gave the Huffington Post, played a part in convincing the Liberal leader that legalizing, regulating and taxing marijuana was the best way to deal with the drug.
There was some other stuff in that interview, too, such as an admission by Trudeau that while he has smoked marijuana only five or six times in his lifetime, the last occasion was three years ago — about two years after he was elected the Liberal MP for the Montreal riding of Papineau.
“We had a few good friends over for a dinner party, our kids were at their grandmother’s for the night, and one of our friends lit a joint and passed it around. I had a puff,” Trudeau said.
“I think he’s very brave,” said Coulter, who does not consume cannabis herself but encourages any politicians who have — or still do — to come forward.
His political rivals disagreed.
“By flouting the laws of Canada while holding elected office, he shows he is a poor example for all Canadians, particularly young ones. Justin Trudeau is simply not the kind of leader our country needs,” Justice Minister Peter MacKay said in a statement Thursday.

That's going to take some getting used to
Very risky move telling the public. I can see this as attack material for the other parties in the next federal election.

Better for it to come out now than to demolish him in an election.
Well, Peter MacKay finds life very uncomfortable with that cactus up his ass.
It's not like Trudeau's admitting to still doing it now. Besides, among Canadians in particular, the Cannabis issue has become one of civil disobedience, and legalization is sure to be just around the corner.
He'd still have my vote, if only because he's a better alternative than Harper, at least in my eyes.
Canada and Marijuana legalization need to stop fooling around and fuck already.
Even though he's right about this stuff, he lost a shitload of voters because more than half the country is wildly misinformed about weed and drugs in general

Drugs are bad m'kay?

Listening to Conservative radio stations is painful. Dismissing comparisons between prohibition and the war on drugs by declaring that alcohol isn't really that bad for you, etc.
Also, he lost my support because it doesn't seem like he's genuine.

What the fuck when did that happen?
[editline]23rd August 2013[/editline]
Oh it happened in July. God you'd think I'd have noticed
