great stuff. i was hoping that melee would be a bigger part of the game and i'm not disappointed
Ugh they're going to include the sniper rifles? Great... like the guys camping at base with snipers weren't bad enough in the past few Battlefield games.

They said you should be at a proper distance, so I doubt it's across-the-map effective like BF4 can be.

It's recon going to be the classics Gewehr, Enfield, Springfield and Mosing-Nagant we're already used to in WW2 games. Most of them had been in service since before WW1.

Firstly, Why wouldnt they? Not only are snipers a litteral mainstay of shooters in general but they also really came of age during the first world war.
Secondly, snipers or rather the newly coined 'bush wookie' style of gameplay has existed in every single BF game, and virtually evey other shooter that's not arena based, it's not something that only just started happening in BC2 or BF2.
And thirdly, good. I eat those guys for breakfast.

Because "Wah, I got shot by someone I couldn't see. It's not my fault for running around in the open like a knobhead."
That's usually how it goes. Or it's complaining that snipers are useless despite the fact that a bad player is a bad player regardless of what class they play.
Kinda worrysome that they're describing the "changes" as, well... changes, like they're talking about a patch and not a whole new game. I really want a good, distinct WWI game to come out of this but what if it ends up just being Battlefield 4.5 with a new coat of paint?

They're not even really all that effective across the map in BF4. The projectiles are so slow and have so much drop that most pubs barely land any shots. It's the same in Planetside, BC2, etc. All it does is encourage bad gameplay choices.

First: sniping being some sort of gameplay tradition doesn't imply it's a good thing
Second: "snipers" in every BF game usually just use up team slots and accomplish little of value. They don't take points, they kill few people, and they don't even act as a bullet sponge for better players. They are extremely low value.
Third: every second you waste hunting down a useless bush wookie is a second you weren't doing something useful. Going after them is just as useless as playing them.

Only noobs cry about getting sniped all the time. Once you get some time in game you begin to realize just how useless snipers are. And that's on top of how shitty the average player is, because at least the average player can serve as a distraction, get some kills, and maybe even cap a point or two. Snipers do none of these things. At best (and I'm being quite generous here) they discourage enemies from poking out for too long, but I've rarely seen a sniper good enough to even make this worthwhile. The fuckers don't even spot people, which would actually be useful.
No scopeless rifles ? Pff..

So easy to go behind them, or by their side, or even by their front, since they can't see you when scoped in :v:

This may, or may not come as a suprise but i 100% agree with you, and yet just because i heavily dislike bush wookies / snipers, they're not gonna be taken out of the game it's naive to think they would be.

Bush wookies usually just stay around the same spot anyway, One death and you pretty much know their general area and are able to flank them.
If bf4 is any indication youll just be able to remove the scope from any gun
They're using presets instead of a billion customizable parts so it's likely all rifles will have an iron sight preset.
Kinda lame there's less of an emphasis on bolt-actions, but I guess it could be based off the mobile part of the war.
