Yes?
Just go to setting and enable personal hotspot.
What? How?
You can't, you need a iPhone for that as far as i know.
I actually want to use my iPod as one of those wireless pen drives is this possible?
Do you mean from 3G to WiFi?

Like as a network card? I don't think thats possible
Last I heard it had to be jail broken and may have been possible through SSH somehow, can't remember.
I believe only MyWi has that sort of feature to use the iDevice as a bridge.
Theres a whole bunch of apps like that if you're jailbroken. I had to do that for a while
Look into PDANet, I had to use my iPod for this same purpose when I hackintoshed my laptop.
PDANet and MyWi should both be able to do this, to have the iPod act as a WiFi card with it connected to your computer via USB. Both though, require your device to be jailbroken.

will windows 7 recognize it as such?

Plus i'm in iOS 5 so i'll have to wait a little longer
You have to install a program on your PC, then connect to the wifi point on your phone. Windows 7 does not pick it up as a Wi Fi card or anything, just some generic connection thing.
okay what program

There's a tethered jailbreak available. All it means is that for your phone to boot after the device does a full shut down, that you need to connect it to your computer and run a program. Semitether allows your device to reboot into a non jailbroken state though, so a jailbreak completely viable for general use.

iTunes, since that installs the mobile device driver needed to pick up the iDevice via USB
