Classic cars and this god damn heat wave. How do you beat the heat?

A lot of us own classic cars. A lot of us only own classic cars, like me. A lot of the time, said cars didn't come with airconditioning, and it's expensive to have it installed, and a lot of cars had poor cabin circulation (I have to have both side windows open, the triangle split windows, AND the lower vents to have any circulation in my truck.)
So, classic drivers, how do you beat the heat? It normally gets up to 120F inside my cab while driving, so i normally either go above the speed limit to get air moving, or i drive with the door open.

Is that one of those things you put ice in, and it cools air as it goes through?
I just open all my windows and the sunroof. Works best when you're going sideways.
Go buy bags of ice from Wal-Mart and sit on them.
didnt bradley post a pic of some styrofoam cooler full of ice with PC fans in it circulating chilled air through it
My wagon has pretty bad circulation if I open all the windows, so if it's really hot, like today (it was 100+ Fahrenheit, heat index made it near 120), I just open the front two windows and the air seems to circulate better.

Yeah, I remember it too.
Open all the windows and keep a few bottles of cold water on me. Also, wearing a tanktop helps.
Ive got 2-70 AC :D
What the fuck is air conditioning
Also I think my Subaru is the only thing with A/C now, and I have the belt off of it. :v It also needs charged.
Pretty much just drive rilly fast with the windows down in everything I own. I've never had a car with A/C in it, except my dad's Ram Charger I drove for like ~6 months before I got my own car streetable.

Kinda, you fill it with water, then uses the idea that evaporating water cools what it touches. Little more in depth, but that's the gist of it.

My Ram is great for being cool, I haven't been in anything as serious as your heat but for the most part when I get in its not too hot, I just leave the door open for a bit. If it gets hot then I open all the windows which would be the sides, triangular vent windows, and there is a little door on the passenger side that brings in quite a bit of air, having the rear window open helps alot though as it helps to circulate the whole cabin. If its ripping hot and I can't get up to speed then I usually run the AC for a minute and it's good.

From what I read I don't think your rear window can open, that or you left that fact out. The rear window helps alot for me.

Those little corner wing-window things are the shit. Directs air right at you. I remember having those in the Ram Charger (Which, actually, would have been the same year range as your truck, it was a '91, also had the 318) and it was pretty cool.

Trucks from its time didn't have rear windows that could open.

What do you mean a Ram Charger?
Its a truck made by dodge, looks alot like the older rams but with a dog box (don't know the exact name at the moment) on it and shorter body length, its similar to the ford bronco.

It's not that it "looks like the Older Rams", it is an older Ram. Haha. It's pretty much the Dodge version of the Bronco or K5 Blazer, and in every way better because fuckin' Mopar.
If my dad ever does anything with his, I'd like to get it off of him. He's the second owner, the first owner was the Forest Patrol in California. It's still got the siren on it from its life as a patrol vehicle.
Wow never knew those existed, thats cool as shit.
They are really cool. Personally, if I was going to have something big and 4WD, I'd like a K5 Blazer, since Chevy stuff is alot more common. But I do love Dodge V8s, so given the choice between a good condition Blazer and a good condition Ramcharger, I'd pick the Ramcharger.
Or a Plymouth Trailduster. :v

54 Hudson. One of my Favorites.
Can't beat an Inline 6. If you had one of these back then you could out run the cops no problem at all, because they were still running those old flat-head V8s. The Hudson's were even the king of NASCAR for a little while in the 50s. Inline 6 over V8 Any day.
Bro, you're in the wrong thread.
This is about A/C and/or what you do without it, since it's so fucking hot right now.
Oh I see, damn. I still like Hudson's though :D
Being Norwegian and driving in Norway is how I beat the heat in my 71 Beetle
It's just never really extremely warm in Norway
I beat the heat by it not being summer yet. Fucking mother fucking rain in the Middle of July. But I went down to Eastern Oregon to the Dechutes River and went River rafting down all the Rapids for the weekend. We hit a Class 5 and our boat pretty much folded in half, but no one fell out. :<
My car doesn't have AC, but it's still winter here in England so...

Wait, you're Norwegian? I've always thought you were Swedish because of the flag.
The heat makes my car run so much hotter (obviously) its fucking annoying, I can't drive it for long periods of time. Not really a classic but older car
Cooling system can't handle 100 degree weather? Drop in a cooler thermostat n maybe flush the radiator if it's gunked, shouldn't have to worry about any heat no matter what ya drive.. when it comes to overheating anyways.
I've been meaning to change it from 190 to 165 but I'm lazy. I've been having assload of coolant problems recently and its defiantly gunked.
