Shame you can't withdraw money from the steam wallet, or else he would be loaded
10,000 dollars worth of high-end loot lost forever. [editline]11th May 2013[/editline] Ouch.
Shame you can't withdraw money from the steam wallet, or else he would be loaded
Could've easily sold some of it via PayPal. :v: Honestly, this guy is smart as hell.
Friend of mine was telling me that when the first major EVE market crash happened, a friend of his saw the patterns in the market leading to that and exploited it for massive profit. CCP responded by banning him saying he was in on it.
I did the same thing too I just knew to stop when Valve updated the TOS
So it's against the ToS to have like, say, 5 steam accounts each with a copy of the orange box, running on several PC's and idling for months on end to generate items to craft into metal and gather hats to sell?

"oh shit people are using the horrifically fucked up system we implemented, what should we do?!" "BAN THEM" christ I miss tf2 when it was an FPS game
"oh shit people are using the horrifically fucked up system we implemented, what should we do?!" "BAN THEM" christ I miss tf2 when it was an FPS game
Good for you.
christ I miss tf2 when it was an FPS game
It was when I played yesterday.
It was when I played yesterday.
You'd have to find a "vanilla" server, and they're getting rarer and rarer.
Anndd the tf2 "market" prices jump!
Anndd the tf2 "market" prices jump!
Yeah, just look at all those Vintage, Strange, and Genuine items lost forever. If Valve can make them disappear at the drop of a hat, it kinda makes me realize that I should stop placing so much value on TF2 items. The game's just getting older and older anyway. At least I stopped spending money on it; now I just deal in TF2WH credit. My rule on new collectible items is: can I trade away some of my existing items to make enough WH credit for it? No? Then it's not happening.

I realized a long time ago that having hats really isn't worth it when you can have actual things like money, or at least a videogame that I can play.
You'd have to find a "vanilla" server, and they're getting rarer and rarer.
Theres a shitton of vanilla server up, what are you on. They might have a couple server management mods but the gameplay remains the same.
He should have consistently cashed out. That was good automation work.
boy its just like gambling, making thousands of dollars playing a card game, and then getting thrown the fuck out once they realize youre counting cards
Should've constantly cashed out.
"oh shit people are using the horrifically fucked up system we implemented, what should we do?!" "BAN THEM" christ I miss tf2 when it was an FPS game
I'd happily start playing TF2 regularly if it was how it used to be, or at least not too far into the hats/item bonanza e.g. the first class updates. Now I go on and there's like 50 different weapons I don't know about and everyone looks stupid as fuck, or they're not even playing and just trading.

Join a vanilla server. Join a decent server where trading is frowned upon. OR Get over it, learn the new weapons, play the new gamemodes, and maybe make a few dollars off hats while you're at it. No point crying over an artstyle that died 3 years ago, it's still the same game except with a hell of a lot more content.

Learning python is even worse than this :v:

I usually just ask people "Oh cool what's that new medigun or whatever?" And they say "Oh, it's the whatever that does this and that." And I say "Cool," and go back to using my vanilla Spy loadout.
I used to do this on Neopets for food items. :v:
traded hats for keys and got torchlight 2
I can't be the only one who believes that this hat/item/weapon/whatever economy is getting ridiculous, right?
I can't be the only one who believes that this hat/item/weapon/whatever economy is getting ridiculous, right?
Other games have this too
