• Police Scotland "safe internet use" backfires
Police Scotland has been mocked on Twitter over its attempts to warn social media users about the importance of "safe internet use". A tweet sent by the force's Greater Glasgow division on Friday warned: "Think before you post or you may receive a visit from us this weekend". It also urged social media users to consider whether a post was "true, hurtful, illegal, necessary or kind" before they sent it:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-35946349 Police Scotlands tweet A couple of the replies - more in the article
Uh, out of "true, hurtful, illegal, necessary, and kind", I think only 1/5 of those the police have any authority over.
Is it kind? Is it hurtful? Is it necessary? I really can't stand this shit anymore. Are Police Scotland going arrest me because I hurt someones feelings? Oh you find what I post offensive? So fucking what? That doesn't give someone extra rights you'd think that the police would have better things to do in Glasgow, what with it being the most violent place in the UK, than to waste time on another stupid social media campaign
Maybe the police should think before they post, as well.
it's like it's april fools or something
it's like it's april fools or something
It's like it's the police or something.
T - No, you cannot get prosecuted for offending people on the internet. You can however get arrested for posting threats against the life of others, and various other crimes if you're the dumb criminal with loose lips. H - If it was.. " Just ignooorre em'!" - Cool Cat Really though its a basic tactic to ignore trolls, many sites include ignoring systems to ensure that you don't hear from them again. If you do however use as site that doesn't have such, then it is up to you to not give into the temptation, as well as to not even stoop to their level. Escalating with the trolls just makes things worse for you in the long run and will never get you anywhere, but a burnt ego.. I - As T has stated, no. Because much like life outside of the keyboard, everything just as similar in terms of dealing with any sort of conversation. Everyone has their own differing opinions, idiologies, and different reactions and expectations to every situation. If you don't agree with them feel free to voice that; if you hate someone's guts or just plain annoyed with someone, ignore them or report them to a manager of some kind to have them deal with the situation. N - Some people do some awful and completely immoral shit in front of others and it is well within others right to call them out on such acts. On other sides of the necessary coin comes actual debates or questions or straight up reviews and criticisms that also come into play, people would love to silence the critic / opposition, and punishing people for such can be extreme. K - // I dunno how to code! If ( kind) { System.out.println( "[ YOUR LINE HERE ]" ); } else System.out.println("Just ignooorre em'!" - Cool Cat"); } }

Either way, this is UK law and being offensive to someone over a consistent / extended period of time is likely to be viewed as bullying, and bullying here is a crime which you can be arrested for.
Maybe idk the police are just giving people advice so they're nice to each other rather than saying "break any of these rules and it's jail for you"??
Maybe idk the police are just giving people advice so they're nice to each other rather than saying "break any of these rules and it's jail for you"??
well they do directly say "follow these or you may get a visit from the cops"

We're all criminals in the land of the free.
as if telling us to not insult each other is going to stop it we've been doing it for literally centuries rofl what is flytin'
as if telling us to not insult each other is going to stop it we've been doing it for literally centuries rofl what is flytin'
hell, anonymously insulting people in public spaces has been a time honored tradition if the walls of pompeii tell us anything
Holy fuck, Scottland. Y'all gotta fight back against this B.S.!
maybe it's got something to do with folk using twitter to openly threaten violence against people or incite sectarian violence in our communities but hey not like i live in glasgow or anything
maybe it's got something to do with folk using twitter to openly threaten violence against people or incite sectarian violence in our communities but hey not like i live in glasgow or anything
Then speak out against that, instead of "oy you better make sure all your tweets are kind and necessary or we might fucking break your door down m8"
When you answer "no" to all of these things, does this mean your shitpost isn't a shitpost?
