Earlier today I received an e-mail from the people at YouTube, who informed me that a seven-second video that I ran of Nintendo game designer Shigeru Miyamoto bobbing his head during a musical performance of the Spike VGAs was in violation of a Viacom copyright.YouTube, I learned will not jump to the conclusion that a seven-second clip is a-ok. Neither, is another video we captured of Miyamoto bobbing his head, one we used for a brief news item. Perhaps it was the musical performance of the Black Keys, playing in the background of those clips that got Viacom's attention. How could Viacom or YouTube know these videos were captured for news purposes? And... what else isn't free and clear of Viacom complaints and YouTube reactions? Oh, just the official trailer for The Last of Us. It, too, has been pulled for now. That's why there's a big takedown notice smack in the middle of the game's official site. All of these clips have one thing in common: they involve content that aired on the Spike Video Game Awards on Saturday night. We've reached out to Last of Us's caretakers at Sony for comment about this. We'll hit up YouTube, too and see what the deal is. UPDATE: A Sony rep says the company is "sorry for the inconvenience" (we didn't think it was their fault!) and says they hope to have this resolved shortly. This is The Last Of Us's YouTube trailer, as uploaded by Sony. If/when it displays something other than a takedown notice, you'll know that the parties involved came to their senses. That one seems pretty cut and dry.
Source Fucking Viacom, SOPA hasn't been voted on yet and passed yet, so fuck off.
Man, they're already acting like they have the right to fuck with content.
i wonder how the legal team at viacom feels about acting like total children
Enough of this shit. We really need to organize and force them to cease their faggotry immediately. This is getting ridiculous. [editline]14th December 2011[/editline]
i wonder how the legal team at viacom feels about acting like total children
Considering the amount they get paid, probably really good.
Aw what the fuck, what did Naughty Dog/Sony do wrong? Screw Viacom. [editline]13th December 2011[/editline] But seriously, what brought up the need for viacom to take down the trailer? It showed nothing of Viacom's interest!
Viacom has been like this for years.
Viacom has been like this for years.
They're cunts.
i wonder how the legal team at viacom feels about acting like total children
What do you mean acting? They are children.
rofl how the fuck does it even have anything from Viacom?
Viacom owns everything, don't you know?
So let me get this straight. People make official trailer and upload it to youtube. Trailer also airs on Spike TV, which is owned by Viacom, who order the takedown notice on youtube. That...is almost a paradox.
Viacom owns everything, don't you know?
I'M A BIG STRONG MAN WHO DON'T NEED NO VIACOM BITCH AIN'T GOT NOTHN' ON ME
Viacom owns everything, don't you know?
Its pretty amazing, they really do own pretty much everything.
I'M A BIG STRONG MAN WHO DON'T NEED NO VIACOM BITCH AIN'T GOT NOTHN' ON ME
THEY ALREADY OWN YOU! THEY ALREADY OWN ALL OF U-- Comment is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Viacom International Inc.

I think is a teaser for Halo Reach. It was taken down by Viacom within a couple hours.
Looks like Viacom suffers from premature injunction.

Its hard to speculate on this sort of thing without knowing the full facts.
Sony's going to rip Viacom a new one.
Sony's going to rip Viacom a new one.
I hope you're right.
Viacom is probably as bad as Apple when it comes to law.
What does viacom have with last of us? GO AWAY. SOPA HAS NOT PASSED YET.
One more thing you have to remember is that YouTube is very trigger happy and will takedown a video upon the first notice or hint of copyright infringement...regardless of who it came from. There's stories of people getting YouTube to take videos down just by using made-up lawfirm names they don't bother checking the authenticity of. While it's pretty funny when stuff like this happens to big corporations, it is far from the first time where some official vid got pulled briefly due to a technicality, miscommunication, or YouTube being YouTube.
viacom should eat a dick and fuck right off
FUCKS SAKE VIACOM YOU RETARDS THIS IS NOT HOW YOU MAKE PEOPLE WANT TO PAY YOU MONEY IF YOU WOULD STOP ACTING LIKE A BUNCH OF FUCKWAGONS PEOPLE WOULD ACTUALLY BUY YOUR SHIT
The fact that this and other nonsensical youtube take downs have been happening in the last couple days doesn't make me feel good about SOPA not being passed.
Sony's going to rip Viacom a new one.
doesn't sony support SOPA? they can't complain as this is exactly what they wanted...
Sony's going to rip Viacom a new one.
Except Viacom owns Paramount Pictures, who is a member of the MPAA along with Sony Pictures Entertainment, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's some overlap in management
The fact that this and other nonsensical youtube take downs have been happening in the last couple days doesn't make me feel good about SOPA not being passed.
Except Viacom has always been doing this shit and it has nothing to do with SOPA.
These kinds of actions should just show Governments around the world that laws like SOPA will do nothing but harm the internet in the long run.
