I recently upgraded to windows 7 on my laptop for college, it was vista previously and when I booted up any games I could play at a resolution higher then 1024x768 and at 16.9 widescreen, since i've upgraded the max it will allow is 1024x768 and it has two black bars on either side of the screen as it refuses to use them, I tried updating my drivers looking in catalyst control and reinstalling the drivers. I'm kinda stumped as to what to do.
Did the laptop use any manufacturer's software to change screen ratio? Check the cd you got with it, it's bound to have some software like that on it.
Win7 and your graph card will see your monitor and force it to a normilized resolution. that is what happend to my stationary and it was the resolution that i used all the time.
