40 dollars? lolno
40 dollars? lolno
574,80 euros worth of DLC. For a game still priced at 45 euros, four years after it's release.
Are they trying to beat Train Simulator?
Nope, they just give plenty of reasons why not to buy The Sims. It's sad, because I always loved the games.
The only reason I own Sims 3 DLC is because I got like 4 DLC packs and the base game for like $80 total. It's a fun game to revisit every once in awhile.

If you get the base game and a few expansions its a great game that adds a lot to the Sims formula that I couldn't live without. Pretty much made going back to Sims 2 impossible for me. Playing without traits or an open neighborhood is just not fun after you've tried it. Really all you need is the base game, Ambitions, and Late Night/Seasons, in my opinion. The DLC is mostly a joke and not worth it at all, and the majority of the expansion aren't necessarily bad but don't have the appeal they need to justify the price.

Seasons and Ambitions definitely.
Has anyone gotten this pack? Is it any good? I'll admit it looks cool but I always wait to see the LGR review. I'm a sucker for cheesy looking robots.
That's the thing, a lot of people have trouble with separating the "Stuff" packs from the actual expansions that add new gameplay elements.
'Stuff' packs are still 20 bucks. Which is insane for cosmetic DLC.
'Stuff' packs are still 20 bucks. Which is insane for cosmetic DLC.
Yeah I've never bought a single stuff pack. Most of the stuff just looks meh anyways because it fits a very niche aesthetic. And considering the amount of stuff you get in a pack, 20 bucks is just stupid. That said all the expansions are relatively strong in terms of actual gameplay features. And while 40 may be a bit steep for most, they're all worth getting if you see them on sale.
I wonder how much Sims 3 weighs now with all DLCs. The result with all of them before Diesel stuff pack was 60 or 70 GB, don't remember the exact number.
Only ones worth getting are Seasons, Pets, and Late Night. The others are okay, but they're not essential.
Only ones worth getting are Seasons, Pets, and Late Night. The others are okay, but they're not essential.
I'd say ambitions>pets. Pets is nice, but ambitions actually added new gameplay. And ghost busters.
Forgot about Ambitions. Yes, that one too.
The World Adventure one is pretty fun since it gives you weird little puzzles and quests to do in some interesting locales. But fucking hell is it buggy. Get pets if you want wild horses and unicorns running around inside the city causing lag because of pathing issues
Get pets if you want wild horses and unicorns running around inside the city causing lag because of pathing issues
I had horrible issues with pathing and lag in that city they added for Nightlife or whatever. Eventually I got that bug where everyone in town just stood around at the town hall never doing anything but never dying either. I'd constantly have to go back and pause the game and manually reset every sim for them to start to do things again, and that would only last for a short time.
I've got most of the expansion packs, but like one stuff pack at most and mine only comes out to 23 GBs.
Ah, right. I counted the weight of ISOs.
They could've done so much more with the time traveling concept, and what do we get? Only the future. Pathetic.
Holy shit, an expansion that isn't just a carbon copy of something they did for the Sims 1 and 2? If it wasn't for the ridiculous price tag I might be impressed.
574,80 euros worth of DLC. For a game still priced at 45 euros, four years after it's release.
And you didn't even mention the Sims 3 Store.
Can I make a household of only robots?
Can I make a household of only robots?
Don't see why not, but you'd probably need to start Sim family to make them and then separate the households. You could do that with the robots in Ambitions.
I have always wanted Sims 3 on steam. I would play the shit out of it but the price is like the plague keeping me away
Ah, right. I counted the weight of ISOs.
I've got every expansion (except this one) and the first two stuff packs, and it's ~40gb on my end.
Hey Fuck You guys, Katy Perry's sweets stuff pack is the bomb
I actually paid less for The Sims 3 + All Expansion Packs (no stuff packs because they're shit) than I did for Battlefield 3 Limited at launch.
Its kind of weird seeing something that isn't an MMO get new content with a sequel on the horizon, even though all we have to go by is "sometime in 2014". Then again, it IS The Sims, and they tend to milk each iteration for as much as they can get.
