School administrators at Coghlan Fundamental Elementary School in B.C. have banned kindergarten students from touching each other during recess.

Students were sent home with a letter on Friday, advising parents of the new hands-off rule which prohibits games such as tag, holding hands and imaginary Star Wars light saber duels.

The letter states that the ban was put in place as a result of several playground injuries over the past few weeks due to games and other hands-on play during recess. The school says it will have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to the no-touching policy and children who break the rule will miss playtime or be sent to the office. School district spokesmen Ken Hoff says the ban is simply a measure to ensure student safety and not meant to severely punish students for touching.
**SOURCE** How about you just fucking ban recess and let kids spend their 15 minutes sitting at their desks doing nothing at all. Who the fuck hired you into a level of authority??
nonononono nonono those kids might fall over and stab themselves on those sharp blades of grass, we need to harness them to a padded wall so they can hurt themselves
This just in: it's illegal for kids to be kids at school otherwise they get into detention
"The letter states that the ban was put in place as a result of several playground injuries over the past few weeks due to games and other hands-on play during recess." Just as a reminder, that kind of stuff always happens. It's like they grew up in some kind of private school for rich people.
Oh well, I guess they'll just have to touch themselves
"safety" is the perfect excuse
kids can't be kids
Thank goodness they banned touching each other. Can you imagine all the harm that would of caused? Hopefully they banned eye-contact and speaking to each other soon too
I like how the rule doesn't apply to teachers touching the students
I genuinely feel sorry for the next generation, they're going to be so fucking sheltered and hopeless when they grow up. Perfect for the government of course because they'll be directly under their control.
At first I thought this was going to be a joke thread, then I read the article and it is serious... Why would someone think this is a good idea?

On an unrelated note to the above sentence, I'm starting to realise that dogs are getting more freedom than our children. Kids can't do anything these days because it's dangerous, or discriminatory, or fun. Also these kind of experiences help children to grow up. For example, we got every kind of medicine for the kids, and it won't develop their immune system.
it's the lizard people i tell you what
At first I thought this was going to be a joke thread, then I read the article and it is serious... Why would someone think this is a good idea?
Common sense and intelligence aren't exactly present in vast quantities among certain people. If they think it's a good idea, they're like 'hey guise let's do it, sounds cash'.

Next, it's prohibited for the teachers and staff to touch the kids. Only RCMP officers can be called in to separate two kids who've started fighting on the playground. Then there'll be an incident and RCMP officers won't be allowed to touch the kids either. Aldergrove school wtf.
This makes me Sorry.
I remember when my elementary school told us we weren't allowed to hug each other. What sad times.
Better bubblewrap everything.

They should just ban recess all together, there are too many risks and safety hazards

I'm all for making playgrounds safer, but this is just fucking stupid.
The school says it will have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to the no-touching policy and children who break the rule will miss playtime or be sent to the office. School district spokesmen Ken Hoff says the ban is simply a measure to ensure student safety and not meant to severely punish students for touching. "It wasn’t meant to be an instantaneous situation where the hammer is just going to drop if a child touches another child," Hoff said. "I think what it was meant to convey is we are taking the issue seriously," he added. The school says it will have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to the no-touching policy and children who break the rule will miss playtime or be sent to the office.
How does that even fucking work? Your school is saying the exact opposite thing you're saying. And:
Students were sent home with a letter on Friday, advising parents of the new hands-off rule which prohibits games such as tag, holding hands and imaginary Star Wars light saber duels.

imaginary Star Wars light saber duels
do they even know how light saber duels work because let me give you a hint it doesn't involve putting your hands on one another.
Bot on the right has 6 fingers.
it's a robot
"Give me a high 5, Billy!" "Billy, Johnny, you're both suspended for violating the no touching rule."
Can't blame them. Parents sue over EVERYTHING nowadays. If your kid gets a scraped knee you can sue. School just doesn't wanna deal with BS.
Why does the ticker keep saying I'm being mentioned in here?
Can't blame them. Parents sue over EVERYTHING nowadays. If your kid gets a scraped knee you can sue. School just doesn't wanna deal with BS.
I blame them for not dealing with this in a better way instead of following the "BAN EVERYTHING" approach.
