It seems quite common to have a bike stolen. Personally, I have never had my bike stolen but a family member has. ITT: Tell us about your bike stealing experiences/if your bike was stolen. (User was banned for this post ("Shit thread" - GunFox))
My bike was stolen, I wasn't there though.
I have a solution for all cyclists out there, who worry about having their favored method of transportation whisked away by a greedy bastard... Don't ride bikes.
I had bought a 400 dollar bike. In a month, it got jacked. Thats what I get for living in the place I do.
No joke, a black man stole my bike.
Twice, first the threw them in the bushes at my school and the second time and the train station.

Well, non of my bikes have ever been stolen, but my current bike was originally stolen. Police caught the guy who stole it, sold the bike at an auction, and somebody bought it for me.
I ride scooters for this reason. No one wants a scooter.
My bike was stolen. I put it outside the entrance of my house. Then went inside to get some stuff. 10 minutes max. BAM it's gone.
Mine got run over first, then melted down before my eyes. Because it was stolen by Gypsies.
I never had my bike stolen because it blends in with the other generic mountain bikes
If you do get a bike chain get a long one. If they cant take your whole bike they will settle for a wheel.

No because I don't leave my bikes lying around like some jackass. Take more care of your shit and it won't get stolen.
Nope, never. Had a gel bikeseat stolen before though
One in October, another one a few weeks ago. Got it back two weeks ago though.
I've had my wheels stolen haha... £170 for new fucking wheels.
No because I don't leave my bikes lying around like some jackass. Take more care of your shit and it won't get stolen.
Before I moved to my new town I had my bike unlocked for a solid 6 months. When I moved, it took 3-4 days before it got stolen while unlocked. Yeah, stupid of me but hey, there's ton of bikes where I park and I didn't have a lock at the time. Like I wrote earlier another one got its lock clipped just a few weeks ago. It's all dependant on where you live, and what kind of people live there.
Not me, but my friend did.
Was in a store and saw some guy crouching near my bike, i bought my stuff and went outside and asked him what he was doing, he ran.
Never had a bike stolen, i have my actual one since 2003, it's rusty and dusty like hell
Around here, you don't have your bike locked up, it'll be gone in less than 10 minutes. I double lock mine with two U-Bars.

Not a bad investment when you're protecting a $500+ bike.
