http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zrFD7P There's the parts I have picked. I've gotten some advice from my friend, but I need some second opinions on this. Do you think I could have replaced the video card with something better and cheaper? I'd like to run most modern games on high or ultra in 60 fps, and some emulators such as dolphin and pcsx2 on 60 fps (hack or forced possibly) in widescreen hack. I heard AMD is cheaper, but intel usually blows it out of the water. And don't be afraid to teach me things about PC Building; talk to me like you would a 5 year old. I'm new at this and am terrified of making any grave mistakes. Thanks.
You did really well, I just made a couple changes. Dropped the price on the RAM a bit, same with the HDD for a pretty much identical product. For the case I chose a slightly better one imo that's a touch cheaper as well. As for the video card, the R9 280x will have better performance for just a touch more, which fits in budget with the changes I made. I don't know jack about this, so is this a problem when actually putting the pieces together?
Nah, just means you won't have usb3 ports on the front. If that's a big problem, you can change out the case. The only issue is if the case has 3.0 ports and your mobo does not have headers
