Huh.
Maybe we'll actually see a survival horror Resi 7 after all.
Even though I personally didn’t enjoy my time with Resident Evil HD, I can certainly understand the allure of the game for those who really enjoyed the original title.
Oh look it's this spastic again.
Good. Now give us a RE2 remake.
Seriously, you'd think Capcom would have gotten the message by now. Resi fans have been clamoring for a RE2 remake about as much as the final fantasy fans have been demanding a FF7 remake.
Plus just about everyone I know kept saying "if only capcom would port REmake away from the gamecube." Looks like they finally got their wish. I was going to get this masterpiece myself so I could finally experience the original story, but my PS3 chose this inopportune time to break.
I'd love to see further remakes while Capcom get their act together and start working towards appealing to the audience that they've had but neglected for years.
While it's great they are doing these re-releases (hoping for RE0 next), I can't help but wonder if Capcom can still produce something like REmake. So far all this content has been mostly existing one (RE4, REmake) but looking at their recent titles I don't get exactly hopeful that they'll be able to do say a faithful RE2 remake.

They were able to successfully remake the original, so I've got faith.
Then again, this is capcom, and my faith has been shaken before.....more than once actually. I would love a RE2 or RE3 remake.
This is awesome news! I really hope it convinces Capcom that there is an audience out there who would gobble up a RE2 remake or an entirely new game with the old formula.

I bet the guy is just sitting there dumbfounded that so many people purchased a "crappy" "outdated" game.

"Unfortunately, all of these enhancements feels like wasted effort, because the original Resident Evil is such a terrible game in hindsight"
Yeah, seems like the kind of [del]quality Shacknews writer that should've wrote that statement a lot less loaded instead of how he did where it's obvious he expected everyone else to agree with him bashing it[/del] dumbfuck that'd be dumbfounded about that.
the guy who writes these should be fired
how 2 make every background for the remaster
take the original
sharpen more

Oh, man. It'll be hilarious if they decide to instead 'remaster' the original PC ports RE2, and RE3, instead of something similar to RE's 2002 remake. It'll be even more amusing when they slap "HD" on the title after over-sharpening the more-than-a-decade old pre-rendered backgrounds, and calling it a day. That's honestly what Capcom seems more likely to do regarding all the older titles. They won't actually do a remake of 2, and 3, they're more likely to just port the originals again for a quick buck.

How the game ended up taking up 10+ GB was beyond me.

well SE bullshit reason it's to hard and the map's are to big but with Capcom there is no most a reason since it would take very little time to just re do everthing.

It's a testament to how much people wanted this port. I stand by them. People can continue to play this awesome game now on more platforms then ever; that's a win to me.

Supposedly the Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami didn't want RE4 ported to any other platforms except the gamecube.
Which is sad, cause I wasn't part of the hip cool crowd that had gamecubes. If it weren't for Capcom's decision to port RE4 to the PS2, I never would have experienced such a great game. It was effectively the game that drew me into the franchise and got me to play the classics RE2 and RE3.
This probably means a shoe-in for the RE0 port. If they can port Outbreak/files 1 & 2 with voice support that'd be the shit. I thought ORC would be something similar, and we all know how that went down.
But at tihs point I'll just settle for decent ports of 2 & 3.
