I disagree, the clone wars from the prequels are an amazing setting, and not a lot of games use it as a FPS, just Battlefront and Republic Commando (Unless I'm missing one).

OK, I guess it’s nice that the Sallustans are getting their due, rather than just being strapped into a chair alongside Lando Calrissian and taken for a ride.
What about splitscreen? That was a great feature in the previous 2.
It's a different source, but splitscreen was confirmed.

Splitscreen is confirmed, it will feature a partner-mode allowing you to spawn and exchange kits with your mate.
I hope they don't put in some dumb shit like giving every player the Star Wars equivalent of a parachute.
That is the dumbest shit in Battlefield and makes landing transport helicopters pointless and earning kills in air units close to impossible as pilots will always bail without having a second thought.
'Best of all: no prequel trilogy stuff.'
I know we already knew about this, but like. Ugh.
Clone Wars are so much better to me. I don't mean in terms of movies, but just the clones in general, they look cool and have cool-ass vehicles. Maybe the Stormtroopers would have looked half good too if the original trilogy was made a little later.

Clone troopers are way too cool. I didn't like playing as droids in Battlefront 2 but I loved the clones.
Wait wait wait. 40 player cap? What the fuck!
Gonna miss being C.I.S. I loved playing as the droids.
No single player campaign. Thank fucking god.
Clone Wars as an era was a great setting for a game like this given how many planets it took place on.
If it's going to be anything like the scale of Battlefield (I didn't play the earlier Battlefronts for very long but they seemed kinda Battlefield-y), 20v20 doesn't sound like a high number
I can see the 40 player cap being alright, 20x20 battles. It will also help with some performance not having to render an extra 24 people, and could have to do with server stability. This could very well be changed / updated at a later date too.
I can also see DICE doing a Clone Wars DLC if enough people want it.

It depends on the map design really. In Battlefield the players are spread quite thinly around the battlefield so that even 64 players sometimes doesn't seem enough, but if the maps are appropriately designed they could go with 40. And like, 64 player Metro was ridiculous, a map like that can't handle so many players.
Going by previous Battlefront games, Hoth could go well with 40 players. The AT-ATs only attack from one side of the map and they like go through a valley almost. Then at the end of the level it's all indoor stuff at the Hoth base.

I feel like Hoth could do with more than 40, even 64 player Hoth felt a bit sparse at times.
"Best of all: no prequel trilogy stuff."
what?
you meant to say worst of all right?
the droid sections of BF2 were so fun
Let's be honest here: DICE didn't make the Clone Wars because then they'd have to make non-human models/controls, which is out of their comfort zone

Or they didn't make the Clone Wars because that era essentially belongs to the pre-teen crowd.
Or maybe because it's easier to put all of your efforts into making one era far more detailed?
plus the Galactic Civil War is cooler than the Clone Wars; Stormtrooper for LIFE.

excuse me but stormtroopers look way cooler than the clones, their helmets are far more sinister which is exactly what space nazis need.

I disagree

I think that looks more sinister then the ST helmet
They all look a little silly to me.

The problem is authenticity.
They want it to look and feel like an OT movie. Watch back the video. Everything from the way Jetpacks move characters to how explosions and smoke effects look is based on the original trilogy. It's not just an OT setting. It's a complete OT experience with gameplay and the aesthetic all influenced by those films. They've gone through so much effort to recreate the look of 70s/80s practical effects.
The other problem with crowbarring Clone Wars into this game is that everything was scanned. The locations were extensively photographed, as were the props and costumes. There is nothing from the Clone Wars to scan. It was all CG. It's a whole different ball game.
Finally they've confirmed on social media that the game will only launch with 4 planets (with multiple maps for each planet). Then an additional planet as DLC. All 5 planets have nothing to do with the Clone Wars.
I'd rather Clone Wars be it's own separate game than just tacking it on to the existing one.
Now, if they decided to make Star Wars Battlefront based on KOTOR series, it could make it a worthwhile game

And so the KOTOR circlejerk appears.
Like in every single Star Wars thread.
I don't get their decision to stick with the original trilogy.
The pre-sequels were shit MOVIES but some of the elements within them are great, like the droids and stuff
'Fans don't like the prequel trilogy films so we best not include them' DOESN'T WORK HERE - Hell even Battlefront 2 is a great example, the way they included the elements from the films were great.
Seems like poor decision making, or laziness.

I have to admit that the old republic is my favorite Star Wars time period and i would love a KoTOR 3 but Battlefront is its own thing and the rest of the continuity has just as much merit.
I'm looking forward to see if the Rebels get more aliens than just Sullustans and Ishi Tibs. Don't get me wrong, I'm almost certainly gonna live my dream of having way too many cheeks and roll Sullustan, but it'd be baller as fuck if we got to be Wookiees or Rodians too.
