Performing for Talent Show. Which song should I pick.

It's me singing, with my band's lead guitarist, one of my friends playing Bass and another playing Drums.
We can play both songs pretty well but were torn between either doing:
The Journey - Don't Stop Believing
or
Michael Jackson - Beat It
No one else is doing any Michael Jackson or Journey in the talent show and were just not sure which one to pick. It's our final year in our school so we actually wanna win the show for once and just thought I'd ask for an opinion.
I think you'll get a better crowd reaction with Don't Stop Believing
Definitely Don't Stop Believing

the crowd won't just stop believin'
beat it is only an option if you can dance
As much as Don't Stop Believing is a better song, you'd no doubt get a bigger cheer from the audience for Beat It, simply because it's MJ, his death, blahblahblah.

I have *sort of* a dance routine for it. If doing beat it we agreed to all wear fedoras, and I gotta wear a sequined white glove on one hand.

I can see MJ rolling in his grave.
I would say Don't Stop Believing.
Though, somehow, there are people that don't like that song. At all. And I know a few of them.
If you really can't choose, flip a coin. Heads is Beat It, tails is Don't Stop Believing. :v:
Most people are probably sick of hearing michael jacksons songs played over and over again, Don't stop believing is probably your best bet.
most people are prob. sick of Don't Stop Believing too, but w/e
IMO, neither of these songs would be good to please the crowd. They are way too over played. Pick something that is known widely but isn't played so much that it is boring.
Try to put your own twist on the song too, so to make it interesting.
You should totally do What Is Love.

I second this.
Fuck Journey, fuck MJ.
We need some motherfucking Haddaway.
Plus you (and the rest of your band) will look like a total badass/total badasses, doing a love song. Everyone knows only the most hardcore badasses sing love songs. :c00lbert:
Disciples of Hell - Yngwie J. Malmsteen
or you know, you could do Working Class Hero by John Lennon! They would love that.
(the school, i mean)

From the day you were born, they make you feel small
By giving you no time, instead of it all
Till the pain is so big, you feel nothing at all.
A working class hero is something to be. (x2)
They hurt you at home and hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Until you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules.
A working class hero is something to be. (x2)
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function, you're so full of fear
Yep, the school will love it. :v:

They wouldn't give a fuck, it's a famous song.
Journey?
Do Anyway You Want It, while less famous, it's an incredible song.

We were throwing ideas around of a mash-up. Adding in the first verse and chorus of anyway you want it instead of the 2nd verse of Don't stop believing. Think we are most likely doing Michael Jackson however since our pianist had to drop out for personal reasons and I don't think I can learn it that fast in less then 6 Days on Piano.
More feedback would still be appreciated though.

See if you can shorten the songs and play them both.
Don't Stop Believing.
Fucking Beat It.
Would it be okay if I also asked for talent show advice in this thread?
Go for it.
Well, I'm going to an acoustic cover of something. I want it to be a powerful performance. I'm kind of thinking the song 2:45 AM by Elliott Smith, but I'm open to suggestions.

they most likely would give a fuck.
And it's an amazing song :D
Do a different Journey song people are sick of Don't Stop Believin'. My suggestions are Any Way You Want It, Separate Ways (Worlds Apart), or Only the Young.
I don't like Don't Stop Believin' myself. I have no idea why.

Do Poker Face acoustic.
Matching MJ's singing is very hard, so Beat It would not be too good if you are not exactly amazing at singing.....but the solo in it by EVH is sick, so it's like a 50/50 chance if your lead guitarist can do it perfectly. the main riff isn't too hard though.
Don't Stop Believing is a much easier song, so you have a better chance of singing it right. All I can really say for that song.

One or both of these songs.

I hate the solo from Beat It. It sounds really retarded IMO.
