• Sapphire 5850 x2, graphical glitches in Crysis and Dirt 2.

I'm having serious issues in Crysis, and a not so serius but weird glitch in Dirt 2. [B] Crysis:[/B] This includes random white dots (Not geometry seams), objects appearing and disappearing (blinking, it's very annoying. Happens on trees, grass, shadows, clouds and so on) The cards are not overclocked, and they run at 45C in game. I've tried toying around with the "r_MultiGPU = 0" command, but no changes. I've read threads on other sites, where people are wondering how to get rid of the white dots, but i have not found any answers. Picture of the dots appearing, the other problem is hard to point out with a screenshot: [img_thumb]http://i49.tinypic.com/o0xu13.jpg[/img_thumb] Click on it to view full size, and ignore the fact that i'm using the editor. ____________________________ [B]Dirt 2:[/B] The door of the mobile home, you know, here's some pictures: Here's how it looks right now: (5850 x 2): [img_thumb]http://i48.tinypic.com/2jxeuu.jpg[/img_thumb] And here's how it's supposed to look like (GTX 280): [img_thumb]http://i45.tinypic.com/20apeu9.png[/img_thumb] Again, click on them. _____________________________________ If you need additional info, just ask! Well, your problem in Crysis is mostly known as "Artifacting", and is caused by overheating. But since your temperatures are far from harmful, I'll just suggest a re-installation of your drivers.
I'll try that, thank you. Thread is still open for other suggestions, in case reinstalling doesn't work.
[url]http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx[/url] [editline]06:11PM[/editline] latest 10.2 Catalyst drivers [editline]06:12PM[/editline] completely uninstall any old drivers also [editline]06:18PM[/editline] 45c is great temps
10.2 is the current drivers, but i'll re-install them anyway. [editline]08:54PM[/editline] Oh wait, 10.1 is the current drivers... 10.2 must have been released this week... [editline]08:55PM[/editline] Also, won't the old drivers automatically get uninstalled when i install a new driver? [editline]09:07PM[/editline] Figured it out by Googling around. [editline]09:10PM[/editline] Testing Crysis now... [editline]09:13PM[/editline] White dots are still there.. But the other problem is gone now. [editline]09:15PM[/editline] I was wrong, vegetation, shadows, clouds are still blinking... [editline]09:15PM[/editline] Testing Dirt 2 now... [editline]09:18PM[/editline] Problem is still there, though it's not as important. Conclusion: Updating the drivers from 10.1 to 10.2 did [I]NOT [/I] solve any of the problems.
faulty card(s) [editline]08:45PM[/editline] send BOTH of them back [editline]08:52PM[/editline] or try each one by itself
You really sure about that? You sure it's not the "old" Q6600 bottlenecking them?
CPU can't do shit to visual things, only decrease your FPS
Bottlenecking has nothing to do with white dots and artifacts in your games, and even if it would, the Q6600 isn't that old. Most probably it's a faulty card as rampageturke said.
Recently, another problem has appeared: Randomly after 10-30 minutes, all the colors on the screen turns blue/pink/purple for no apparent reason, this is fixed by putting the resolution down, the up to the native res again. So one (or both) of the cards might be broken? [editline]10:10AM[/editline] I'll test them later tody, one at a time.
That definitely sounds like artifacting/corruption which is again, normally caused by overheating.
45C is really really low for a video card. Either Something is wrong with your Sensor (wich causes the fan to spin slowly and your cards to overheat, causing the artifacts) Or you are reading the wrong number?
Something just catched fire near the second PCI-E slot, so i believe that slot never actually worked. As in, the tempereatures i saw was from an idle card, not really connected to the rest of the PC. This also explains all the other weird shit happening. GTA 4 would not show more than 1GB Vram, and most games would not get improved framerates when i enabled crossfire, So yeah, motherboard fried itself. Would anyone care to reccomend me a new cheap-ish motherboard? It has to fit the Q6600 and the DDR2 RAM.
Incidentally, I have a Sapphire 5850 and I tried beating Crysis with it the other day. Most of the time it performed quite well, but on the carrier deck when you look at the night sky there's random splotches of green and red that shouldn't be there.
Could anyone reccomend a cheap-ish motherboard? Capable of crossfire of course.
wait a second your mobo just caught on fire
Basically yes. I didn't even know that was possible... But i do need another motherboard, could you reccomend me one?
[QUOTE=paul simon;20435945]Basically yes. I didn't even know that was possible... But i do need another motherboard, could you reccomend me one?[/QUOTE] is it still in warranty?
FYI, the motherboard is inside the computer that i built for my friend. He is the third owner since i owned it before him, and again i bought it from a site almost like Ebay. So yeah, that board and it's warranty is fucked.
whats your friends system specs?
CPU: Q6600 RAM: 4GB DDR2 GPU: HD 5850 x2 PSU: 750W corsair Mobo: P5E Deluxe HDD: 500GB, don't remember the brand right now Case: Antec Three Hundred He got the Motherboard, the CPU and the RAM from my old build.
Sorry for bumping this again, but could someoen reccomend me a new moherboard? I prefer bumping this instead of making a new thread about it.
I need your memory Mhz
DDR2, 800MHz if i'm not mistaken.

I don't live in America, but i found a motherboard that seems to be the same: [url]http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.aspx?sku=490136[/url] The name is slightly different, it's called: [I]Gigabyte GA-EP45-[B]UD3LR[/B], P45, Socket-775[/I] instead of: [I]GIGABYTE GA-EP45-[B]UD3P[/B] LGA 775 Intel P45[/I] Can anyone confirm it's the same motherboard?
Main difference is it does not have two PCI-E lanes and a bit older [editline]07:07AM[/editline] here's full specs [URL]http://www.gigabyte.us/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=2914&ProductName=GA-EP45-UD3P[/URL] the other [URL]http://www.gigabyte.us/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=2952&ProductName=GA-EP45-UD3LR[/URL] [editline]07:08AM[/editline] Are you located in the UK? the board I suggestion should be available somewhere
I live in Norway. It's incredibly hard sometimes to find stuff you guys find on Newegg.
what about this one? [url]http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.aspx?sku=445214[/url] A bit more expensive, but i couldn't find the motherboard Craptasket posted... Feel free to translate and surf through Komplett.no
Yes or no. I just need an answer. My freind is probably bored as hell right now.
