What is good music? Good music evokes raw emotion. Good music tells a story. Good music stimulates one's imagination, can make one relaxed - or restless. Good music can bring tears to one's eyes, or send adrenaline coursing through one's veins. All the classic Masters - Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Copland and more - are recognized because their work had these qualities. Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries is a very good example of this. Don't get me wrong, contemporary music has its charms, But the power of the sort of music I'm talking about can't be underestimated. Much of the success of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy was because of his skill as a director in using musical scores to involve the audience emotionally and to lend a gravity and sense of purpose to the events depicted. So, without further ado, I'll present to you a few great pieces I recently came across that, hopefully, will have a considerable impact on you. Close your eyes, clear your mind, and your own imagination will fill in the blanks.

It's so mainstream I can't even enjoy the song itself. Because no matter how much I try to focus on the music itself, Star Wars is flying around in my head.
