• Are Brits Europeans?

Hello Facepunch, I've been in a rather retarded argument with a friend at college, who seems to believe that Britain/UK/GB is not part of Europe and that we're not Europeans. I've shown him that we are in the European Union, which surely means that we are European and part of Europe by itself. His only argument is that saying that we're not in the Euro-zone. I told him that the Euro-zone is just the European countries that use the Euro as currency. He sems to think that if you are not part of the euro-zone, you're not European, which alone is ridiculous since there are European countries that aren't in the Euro-zone, as well as non-European countries which are in the Euro-zone. He says "What is a zone?", I reply "a locally circumscribed place characterized by some distinctive features" (copy pasta'd from google obviously). Then he says "What is euro short for?", "European", therefore it's the place where europeans are (which they are, but it's not the only place where there are Europeans). Every time I try to explain that by Euro it means the currency, not the type of person, he just asks what is a zone. Anyway it's irrelevant. I believe that we are Europeans and I've backed it up with as many facts as I can. What do you think though Facepunch, are British people European?
Technically, you're British Islanders if you need to get extremely specific about geography. Just like how the Japanese are Asian, despite the fact that Japan is not actually part of the continent of Asia. You can really throw him for a loop - there is no such thing as Europe. Geographically, it's just a large protruding peninsula of the Asian continent.
It is.
yes we are European, technically because we are in Europe and we are part of the European union
Brits are Europeans. Answer in the title.

I do remember asking someone about it who said that are are on the continent oh Europe, because we are connected by landmass, it's just that there's like 100 metres of water currently covering it. This seemed reasonable to me, since it's not like the entire sea would have to dry up for UK and the rest of Europe to connect by land.
Yes.

I hope not.
If the British are not European, then the Japanese are not Asian. Simple as that.
Yes. No matter how many times certain parties claim otherwise.
tell your friend that he is a retard. Is Hawaii not part of the States because it's not connected to the region? Is Iceland not part of Europe? Are all the various islands off the coast of Asia not Asian?
Depends if the tories are in power or not so atm , no :smith:
yes [editline]08:20PM[/editline]
Depends if the tories are in power or not so atm , no :smith:
david cameron is actually quite pro europe compared to predecessors
No, they are the very descendants of hell itself.
Yes, british are europeans.
You sir are dumb. Ofcourse British are Europeans, the country is located in Europe therefor=European
You sir are dumb. Ofcourse British are Europeans, the country is located in Europe therefor=European
Technically it's located outside of Europe. Germany and Switzerland is in Europe. Britain is next to it.
This is a map of Europe. Can you see what's inside that map, UK, even Iceland is further away but also in Europe because it's inside this region. Just because a country is an island doesn't mean it's outside Europe.
British are not European! they are from a strange planet where there is no fluoride in their water, and their teeth are fucked up
