The latest U.S. intelligence suggests that the crash of Metrojet Flight 9268 was most likely caused by a bomb on the plane planted by ISIS or an ISIS affiliate, according to a U.S. official familiar with the matter.
"There is a definite feeling it was an explosive device planted in luggage or somewhere on the plane," the official said, stressing that no formal conclusion had been reached by the U.S. intelligence community.
Fuck you, ISIS.
Why hasn't Putin done the "Enough comrades. Time to end this charade" motion and blown the fuck out of them yet?
"There is a definite feeling it was an explosive device planted in luggage or somewhere on the plane,"
Holy shit, you shouldn't go public saying terrorists are blowing up airplanes based on a "feeling". Just my opinion.
I'd say wait for confirmation, if Mayday has taught me anything it's that a lot of plane disasters are wrongly blamed on terrorist bombs when they are downed/takeoff from countries near terrorist activity.

You could try reading the article instead of reacting to soundbites.
The assessment was reached, the official said, by looking back at intelligence reports that had been gathered before Saturday's plane crash and intelligence gathered since then. The United States did not have credible or verified intelligence of a specific threat before the crash. However, the official said, "there had been additional activity in Sinai that had caught our attention."
Another U.S. official said the intelligence regarding ISIS is in part based on monitoring of internal messages of the terrorist group. Those messages are separate from public ISIS claims of responsibility, that official said.
'A feeling' doesn't mean 'we're just guessing lol', it means there's scattered evidence that heavily points towards ISIS but no single piece of smoking gun proof.

Because this is a chess game for Russia.

The last time Russia invaded the middle-east, it didn't go too well.
ISIS even have some American weapons too.
It's like poetry.
How did the bomb get on the plane, is security just terrible with this airline or the same as others?

Afghanistan isn't in the middle east. Afghanistan is 2,626 km away from Syria.

It flew from Sharm el Sheikh didn't it? Perhaps it's possible that an employee of the airport put it there.

I've heard security in Egyptian airports is almost non-existent.

Afghanistan is an Asian country
Afghanistan is an Asian country
So is Syria.
Are we really discussing semantics of middle east/asia?
Yeah, they're much worse than Al Qaeda.
Are we really discussing semantics of middle east/asia?
It's important when the "Russia has bad history in mid-east" is from a region thats thousands of kilometers away from the relevant battlefield.
So is Syria.
Yeah but it's also in the Middle East while Afghanistan isn't

Blah blah blah locations locations, let's get down to the meat.
People are thinking that Russia would use this plane crash as a valid reason to go balls deep into Syria and fuck up ISIS.
People are also thinking that it might fail based on Russia's failed attempt in another country filled with Arabians in the 1980s.
Could Russia learn their lesson and have better chances? I have no fucking clue, that's the topic of the now.
while that is a compelling excuse, i still think its probably something like poor maintenance that caused a spark or something exploding a fuel tank instead of a bomb.

Why is making assumptions better than discussing facts?

Comparison between the two conflicts are pretty useless. It;s a totally different situation
I study the Asian region as part of my degree. The debate on whether Afghanistan/ other M.E/Asian countries should be considered part of Asia is an ongoing debate that probably won't end because there are so many "accepted" views of what exactly Asia is. In academic writing we're told to pick our own belief and explain why -and it's just as valid.
So the argument will go nowhere here and a single google image won't answer it :v:

soviet invasion of afghanistan didn't have a very friendly government aiding it who is willing to fight to the end cause they fear genocide(the alawites, which people keep ignoring for some reason), the current situation is FAAAAAR more favorable for the russians, than afghanistan ever was, also, i doubt the US will be stupid enough to give weapons to ISIS, unlike the taliban, even if they eventually pull out of syria.

Incorrect, it is part of the middle east.

Look at the geography of both Syria and Afghanistan and then tell me it's the same thing
Look at the political situation of both Syria and Afghanistan and then tell me it's the same thing

The sad part is the DRA did better fighting the Mujahideen after Soviet withdrawal compared to the pitiful resistance put up by pedophile cops and such at Kunduz, the first provincial capital to fall since 1991.

If you read the OP, it cites social media run by ISIS that claims responsibility.

I went to Sharm jan 2014 and it was non-existant. There are checkpoints on the roads around Sharm manned by people the locals call tourist police. They are there for PR reasons only and have no training whatsover.
