"We're losing the suburban feel. The suburbs are becoming more urban. We're all sort of in this together," said Mike Clay, mayor of Port Moody.

"We built a brand new city centre at the end of the SkyTrain line. We started that building, though, 20 years ago, anticipating that the line would be built earlier," he said. "Now, we're ready for it — incredibly ready for it."

TransLink estimates more than 70,000 people will ride the line daily by 2021.
**SOURCE** Sorry Dubai. We couldn't handle the fact you dethroned us after 25 years. :smug:
Is it really the world's longest? I remember the Yurikamome in Tokyo was over 14km, whereas this one is 11km.
This extension extended it to 79.5km from 68.6km. Dubai is 74.6km.
Sounds pretty good. I've heard that that area (Coquitlam - Port Moody) has been waiting on it for years. My guess is the extension from VCC-Clark out to UBC is next?
"Fucking finally" - everyone who uses this I moved to New West a couple years back but at least it'll be easier to see friends and family in maple ridge now.
I got sick of the crappy transit system and bought a car.
